Meet Cedar. Gayle’s lesson horse I grew up with as a kid. We lost him 19 years ago today. He was my buddy and I was allotted the opportunity to be with him in his final moments. He gets flowers every year and I get emotional every year. He wasn’t the fanciest horse…but he was one of the best. The first time I rode him we did trail and I lifted a bucket too quickly, he spooked; and I barely stayed on, leaving my parents on the bench thinking what are we getting into?! His photos still fill my house and his memories my heart.
Do it for the sport second and for the love of the horse first. ❤️
Hi everyone! We have some on here so I thought I’d take a moment to explain what we’re all about.
Our barn focuses on the all around events- things like english and western pleasure, trail, horsemanship, showmanship, equitation, western riding, halter, and hunter in hand.
I sometimes find when talking with others that this discipline is often confused with beginner riding or boring riding because we aren’t jumping or barrel racing.
In the next few days I’ll be sharing more about our discipline, how our horses move, how we communicate with them properly, and frankly- how it’s HARD. Hint- if it isn’t hard, you probably aren’t doing it right. 😉

There is so much truth to the entire article. Take the time to read. Do the things. Having roughly 30 years in the industry, I’ve never once thought “man I wish I would have done X instead of buying that horse.” It’s the complete opposite. I couldn’t imagine my life without my horses. ❤️

My little shadow. She will judge your riding harder than I do, yet gives no feedback. She’s ruthless. She causes chaos to ensure you keep your circles, ground poles, and patterns on point.
…But she’s cute, very very cute.
