Story time with Nick and April.

Just because Nick and I no longer wear uniforms every day does not mean we stopped serving our community.

We planned a temporary two week closure to prepare our new business and support the artists who work with us. I also accepted a temporary assignment in February 2026 through my second job, which helps support our business.

Coastal Corner was never intended to close for a month. Circumstances changed, and we were, and continue to be, working through them.

We also chose to spend part of this time helping an elderly gentleman whose health is declining. Supporting others has always been part of who we are.

On September 11, we closed to observe a day that holds deep personal meaning for our family. We will not apologize for that decision.

We also reported concerns about the condition and safety of the property at 429 North Ridgewood Avenue to the appropriate City of Edgewater departments. The City investigated and took action. We appreciate the City’s response.

Our concerns were not limited to our business. They involved the safety of our vendors, customers, property owners, families, and the broader community. We are not making accusations or reaching conclusions; we are asking that legitimate safety concerns be addressed through the proper channels.

We understand the time, money, and effort required to build a small business. We are hurting too, and we know this situation affects many people.

To any artists or vendors I have not personally reached, please call or text Nick or me. You have our contact information. We are contacting everyone as quickly as possible and will share updates when we can.

The uniforms may be off, but our responsibility to do the right thing remains.

🌴 COASTAL CORNER PLOT TWIST… 🌴

We’ve decided to close Coastal Corner for the rest of September — because sometimes you have to close the doors to actually get things DONE. 😂

October is bringing a pretty big adventure. I’ll be trading the shop keys for a medical bag and heading out of the country for the month on a unique paramedic assignment. ✈️🚑🌎

And in true April fashion… There may be a PLOT TWIST to that adventure, which means a little more preparation than originally planned.

So, we’re using the rest of September to finish custom orders, remodel, reorganize, prepare for season, catch up behind the scenes, and add a little more "April Spice" to the Corner — while also making time for my family before I leave. ❤️

We’ve realized Coastal Corner isn't meant to be just a store. It's an experience. And some of the ideas we’ve had all year are finally coming to life.

As a first-responder family, this day holds deep personal meaning for us. On this 25th anniversary, we pause to remember those we lost and honor the heroes who answered the call.

We are CLOSED today as we prepare for a very special evening celebrating and remembering our sweet, incredibly talented Regina. 💙

We’ll remain closed through Thursday, August 27 while we take a few extra days for a much-needed reset + recharge—a little remodeling, finishing up the classroom, routine maintenance, and bringing some new ideas to life.

These last few weeks have brought a lot of grieving, reflecting and remembering—but somehow, also a lot of inspiration.

We’ll reopen refreshed with new finds, new classes, upcoming events and a few surprises.
