Dancing for Eternity seeks to honor Jesus by providing dance scholarships and dance opportunities to those who may not be able to afford it.

Our daughter, Hope Elizabeth Shaffer, 15, was on the path to reach her dream of becoming a professional ballerina. She dreamed of one day providing ballet lessons to students whose families could not afford them. Hope felt that all children should be able to learn the art of ballet if they truly had the desire. Unfortunately, her life was cut short in an auto accident, and now in her memory we would like to make her dream come true by providing dance scholarships to local studios, hosting dance programs, or providing financial or material support to deserving aspiring and emerging dance students. Hope wrote a note to one of her former dance teachers and signed off on it, “Let’s keep dancing for eternity,” and thus the name of this non-profit was born. We truly believe that Hope is now dancing for all of eternity. And we know that she would want others to find the joy in ballet that she found.

My Name is Emma Wells and I am so excited to join the Media/Marketing committee. Growing up, I always loved to dance! Whether i was on a big stage or in a studio, nothing compared to the immense joy it gave me. Dance is so much more than learning steps! It fosters creativity, self expression and a sense of belonging. Dancing for Eternity creates those opportunities for all kids to experience that same joy. I am very grateful to be apart of an organization that helps make that possible.

Please help us welcome Emma to our Dancing for Eternity team!

Hope was all about making ballet accessible to anyone who wanted to dance. It was a part of the fiber of her very being to be inclusive of people. Her specific dream was to teach children ballet who couldn't afford it. As a child who knew firsthand about tight finances, she didn't want any child to be excluded from the joy of ballet just because they couldn't afford it. She also wanted ballet to be accessible to anyone no matter their body type. She felt like God created all people of every size and shape to be able to enjoy the sheer pleasure of dance. Here at Dancing for Eternity, we take Hope's values very seriously as our entire nonprofit is based on her dream. Our core is to create ballet opportunities for those who can't afford it, but we have also we've instituted a no body shaming policy into our partner studio agreements, and we are pursuing ways that we can make our summer camp more disability inclusive and more inclusive in general. Knowing Hope's incredibly generous heart towards all people, we have to believe she would wholeheartedly approve!

My name is DeLyn Richardson and I am a dance educator of more than 25 years. I have a personal interest in arts and disability advocacy, inclusion practices, and child development. I am a mom to two fantastic sons who are on the Autism spectrum and my goals are to raise them to be their best selves. My interest in Dancing For Eternity is to assist in providing access to dance education for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity. I am hopeful that my unique experience as an advocate to the disability community can provide a helpful perspective to the work done by this special organization.

Please help us welcome DeLyn to our board of directors!
