MetaFund is proud to support the expansion of Valley Hope Association's residential addiction treatment center in Atchison, Kansas, through a $7 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation!
The project will increase residential beds and enhance services at the region's only residential addiction treatment center, which currently serves approximately 1,100 patients annually.
Over the past two and a half years, about 60% of Valley Hope's patients received financial assistance, and the organization continues to provide treatment based on clinical need rather than ability to pay.
“MetaFund is grateful to be part of Valley Hope's story in serving patients recovering from substance abuse challenges. Valley Hope has a demonstrated track record of providing transformative care,” said Evan Fay, MetaFund's NMTC Program Manager.

Today our Impact Investing Collaborative team had the opportunity to join investors and problem solvers from Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma to discuss innovative ways to unlock capital for improving outcomes in our rural communities. Ed Long participated in the 2026 Thriving Rural Retreat hosted by the Patterson Family Foundation in Kansas City where an impressive cross-section of public, private, and nonprofit leaders identified shared strategies in support of agriculture, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, and creative co-funding opportunities. Pictured with Ed are Melissa Vincent, CEO of Pipeline Entrepreneurs, and Maria Flynn, President & CEO of Patterson Family Foundation.
Linda Brinlee, the Collaborative's Director of Rural Initiatives, attended the 2026 Oklahoma Rural Health Conference in Broken Arrow. Pictured with Linda is Dr. Denna Wheeler, Chair and Clinical Professor at OSU Center for Rural Health. The conference brings together stakeholder from across Oklahoma, including the Rural Health Association of Oklahoma, Telehealth Alliance of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Turning Point Coalition, and the Oklahoma Office of Rural Health.

MetaFund is proud to announce an $11 million New Markets Tax Credit allocation to support City Care’s Medical Respite Center in Oklahoma City.
The planned 40-bed facility will provide a safe place for individuals experiencing homelessness to recover after hospitalization while connecting them to healthcare, housing navigation, and other supportive services. Once operational, the center is expected to serve approximately 300 patients annually.
“Medical respite care addresses an important gap in our community by creating a safe and dignified place for neighbors to continue healing,” said Rachel Freeman, President and CEO of City Care.
MetaFund NMTC Program Manager Evan Fay noted the project is a true community effort that will help improve the health and quality of life of Oklahomans for years to come.
This investment reflects the power of collaboration among City Care, BancFirst, local healthcare partners, and community supporters working together to expand access to care and promote long-term housing stability.

🥕💚 Today is National Food Is Medicine Day
Food can be more than fuel. Across Oklahoma, efforts are underway to connect fresh, nutritious food with healthcare and long-term health outcomes.
Our latest story looks at how Oklahoma is working to turn “produce prescriptions” into a more permanent part of care, bringing healthcare, agriculture and community resources together.
Representatives from regional healthcare systems, philanthropic funding groups, and agricultural producers gathered at Freedom Acres Farm in Durant to review operations for the regional "Food Is Medicine" initiative. As we recognize National Food is Medicine Day, we are grateful to Atoka County Times editor and staff writer, Miranda Donihoo, for telling this story of collaboration and commitment to investing in our neighbors and building an infrastructure that supports rural Oklahoma.
"While cross-sector collaboration and the braiding of multiple sources and types of funding can sometimes require more patience and perseverance to get across the finish line, I believe we have an obligation to maximize available resources and clear a path for the local and regional organizations already working side-by-side on a daily basis in service to others." -Ed Long, President & Co-Founder, Oklahoma Impact Investing Collaborative
