We specialize in serving the restoration industry, but many others use our maps and expertise of forensic meteorologists! Hail Trace uses our knowledge in severe weather forecasting to give companies a head start on their competition at restoring the lives of those in need. In addition to our forecast abilities we create hail maps that show the exact path hail storms take and overlay that swath on a Google map.

ROUNDS OF RAIN!
A tropical wave (Invest 92-L) has formed in the Gulf and is clashing with a cold front over the Gulf States! Several inches of rain are expected from Texas to Florida as the two systems stall for the next few days. The tropical wave has a high likelihood of becoming Tropical Storm Isaias before this weekend, so stay tuned as we track it all week!

The next potential tropical storm will bring flooding risks to Texas and Louisiana through the weekend!

Right now, clusters of showers and thunderstorms are scattered throughout the southeast ahead of a weak front. Heavy rain will be a major concern this week, particularly across Florida and portions of southeastern Texas. Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to linger over these areas beginning today, increasing the risk for flash flooding.

Don’t count out storms across the US this week. Right now “northwest flow” has taken over. This means a very low chance for severe weather… but pop up storms are still likely!

TROPICAL UPDATE: A cluster of clouds, disorganized right now, could become the next tropical storm in the Gulf! This area has a 70% chance to be named by the weekend. The next named storm will be named Isaias.

Texas and the Southeast are expecting flash flood risk all this weekend with several inches of rain likely for multiple states! Remember, if you encounter standing water, don’t risk driving through!

10/02/2026

Flash flooding remains an issue as a stationary front is parked over Central Texas today! Areas that seen consistent rain are likely to encounter flooded roads for the evening commute!

A slow-moving front is keeping showers and thunderstorms active from Texas into Oklahoma today, with heavy rainfall becoming the bigger concern. Some areas along the I-35 corridor could pick up another 1–3 inches after already seeing several inches of rain Thursday.

Heading into the weekend, that same broader pattern begins shifting east. A cold front will push toward the Southeast, bringing another round of widespread rain while cooler air settles into portions of the Plains.

For the Central US, the wet and cooler stretch should begin winding down Sunday before warmer and drier weather returns next week. So, will the warm weather stick around? For now, yes in many areas, but a series of fronts will gradually push south and east over the coming days.

The West remains much warmer, including a developing late-season heat wave across California and the Great Basin. Rather than one dramatic switch to fall, the next week looks more like a back-and-forth transition. Cooler air will follow frontal passages, but lingering warmth may return between systems, which is typical as we move deeper into October.

And what about the next round of severe weather? Once higher pressure and more stable air settle in behind the current system, attention turns to what comes after it. That’s the pattern we’ll be watching heading into next week.

Not one, not two, but THREE weather hazards are expected today with chances of wind and brief tornadoes in Oklahoma with flooding risks all across the South for most of this week!

10/01/2026

Severe hail remains possible as the center of the low pressure passes over the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas, with any storms that manage to fire in the center of the low provided with just enough lift for up to quarter-sized hail!

HailTrace meteorologists are watching the storms and will map them as soon as severe weather strikes! Weather maps: hailtrace.com/hail-maps

Severe weather remains an issue across the South as the remnants of Polo have combined with the low-pressure system, leaving multiple states with severe weather and flooding. While the severe weather risk peaked yesterday, flash flooding remains a major issue as this slow-moving system continues across the southern plains this week and into the Gulf states by the weekend!

Some storms in Oklahoma and Texas pose a minimal severe weather risk, but widespread organized severe storms are unlikely with the current environment. Areas in East Texas along the cold front could see strong winds, with the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles seeing an extremely limited tornado and hail risk as the center of the low pressure passes over.

Long-term forecasts show the system moving off the Gulf States on Sunday, leaving fall-like temperatures for much of the south, but a high-pressure system is already building along the west coast and making temperatures hot across the Pacific coast. This is forecast to trend eastward, bringing slightly above-average temperatures for the center of the country.
