WEPA libros
We support schools & libraries in the area of culturally & linguistically responsive materials.

Meet the Founding WEPA Faculty. đ
When we opened the call for WEPA Faculty, library professionals from across the country showed up with an extraordinary depth of experience, ideas, and expertise.
After an incredibly competitive selection process, weâre thrilled to welcome:
⨠Audra Williamson â Rhode Island
⨠Rebecca Chavez â Wyoming
⨠Yolanda Prado â Illinois
⨠Susan Martinez â California
Together, they bring perspectives from school, academic, and public libraries serving rural, suburban, and metropolitan communities across the country.
Because multilingual library service isnât one-size-fits-allâand the professional learning we build around it shouldnât be either.
These four practitioners are now developing our inaugural WEPA Activate professional learning series.
Four practitioners. Four distinct vantage points. One connected learning arc.
Welcome to WEPA, Faculty. đ
WEPA Activate is coming soon.

Some collections are curated. Others are pioneered.
When Northbrook Public Library set out to serve its Mongolian-speaking đ˛đł community, there wasnât an established path to building an authentic Mongolian-language youth collection.
There wasnât a traditional supply chain.
There werenât readily available distribution channels.
There was simply a commitment to ensuring that one more community could find its language represented in one of our most important community spaces: the public library.
Weâre incredibly honored that Northbrook Public Library entrusted ÂĄWEPA! lĂbrosÂŽ with helping bring that vision to life.
This became the most challenging international sourcing initiative in our companyâs history. It required building new publishing relationships, navigating international logistics, and refusing to accept that a language community should go unrepresented simply because sourcing was difficult.
Because authentic multilingual collection development isnât measured by how easy it is.
Itâs measured by who gets to belong.
Today, weâre celebrating more than a new collection.
Weâre celebrating a community that will now be able to walk into its public library and discover stories in the language of home.
Thank you, Northbrook Public Library, for your leadership, your vision, and your commitment to serving every member of your community.
This is what building multilingual ecosystems looks like.

What an incredible afternoon at ALA Annual. đâđ˝
Miguel A. Briones â author signing was nonstopâfrom meaningful conversations with educators and librarians to a steady line of readers eager to take home signed copies of Macho No Machismo.
Seeing so many people connect with stories that challenge stereotypes and spark important conversations is exactly why this work matters.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared your stories, and supported Miguelâs mission. Hereâs to getting these books into the hands of even more young readers. đ

đ Languages of ALA â Day 1
One of our favorite parts of ALA is hearing the incredible diversity of languages spoken throughout the conference.
Every language represents a story, a family, a culture, and a community that deserves to see itself reflected in library collections.
Day 1 brought voices from around the worldâand weâre just getting started.
What languages have you heard at ALA so far? đ

Founder Series | Day 1
Todayâs presentation sparked an important reminder:
Leadership isnât about leaving your lived experience behind. Itâs about leading because of it.
Every story shared on stage reflected a simple truth: our backgrounds shape how we see challenges, build solutions, and serve our communities. What some may see as obstacles often become the very experiences that make us more empathetic, innovative, and effective leaders.
At ÂĄWEPA! lĂbros, that belief is woven into everything we do. The communities we serve deserve leaders who donât just understand diversityâtheyâve lived it.
đĽ In todayâs Founder Reflection, Veronica shares why leading with lived experience isnât a weakness to overcome. Itâs one of the greatest strengths a leader can bring. American Library Association

Todayâs pick: Cuentan que ocurriĂł en una noche de brujas đ
One of our favorite parts of American Library Association Annual Conference is hearing directly from librarians about the books that spark curiosity, joy, and meaningful conversations with young readers.
