Costume Drive at Holy Family Catholic Academy!

I’m excited to organize this Costume Drive with the support of Holy Family Catholic Academy and Parish to help the Crisis Community Center bring a little extra Halloween fun to local families. 🧡

We’re collecting:
•New or gently used Halloween costumes
•Costume props & accessories
•Trick-or-treat baskets and bags

📍 Drop-off at Holy Family Catholic Academy
📅 Tuesday, October 13
📅 Thursday, October 15
📅 Friday, October 16

Have costumes your children have outgrown or Halloween items sitting at home waiting for another chance to be enjoyed? This is a wonderful opportunity to pass them along and help another child create a special Halloween memory.

Thank you to the Holy Family community for helping me bring this drive to life. Every donation can make a difference!

I’m so excited to join Café con Paz LIVE tomorrow, September 27 at 11:00 AM for a conversation that goes far beyond clutter.

We’ll be talking about how disorganization can affect our emotions, stress levels, communication, and relationships. We will be talking about how creating more functional spaces can also create more ease at home.

As a professional organizer specializing in ADHD, executive function, and chronic disorganization, I see this connection every day: the way our home functions can deeply influence the way we feel and relate to the people around us.

Acompáñanos para esta conversación sobre cómo el desorden puede afectar nuestras relaciones y qué podemos hacer para crear espacios y dinámicas que nos apoyen mejor.

My favorite part of an organized home isn’t the organization.
It’s what happens after. 🤗

This morning, I made my coffee, noticed the little Halloween touches around my kitchen, and went outside to enjoy a quiet moment.

Nothing extraordinary.

And that’s exactly the point.

When your home isn’t constantly asking you to catch up, clear something, find something, or deal with something, you have more capacity for the small moments that make life feel good.

Decorating for a new season.
Drinking your coffee while it’s still hot.
Moving forward instead of constantly catching up.

That’s what Fresh Light Start is about.

Less time managing your home.
More room to live your life.

This is what we’re making room for. 😍

If you bring it home, you have to manage it.

It sounds simple, but this is one of the most overlooked parts of organizing.

Everything that crosses your front door creates a next step.

It needs to be washed, stored, put away, remembered, maintained, used… or eventually dealt with again.

That’s why organizing isn’t only about finding better containers or making more room. Sometimes it starts before something ever enters the house.

A functional home doesn’t just store what you have. It helps you use it.

Before bringing something home, try asking yourself:

Do I have the space, the capacity, and a realistic plan for this?

In this case, I brought home a lot of fresh produce 😱…which meant I also needed to make the time to prep it, organize it, and actually turn it into meals.

Because what we bring home creates a next step.

And sometimes the best organizing system begins at the front door.😉

Lately, my own home has been reminding me of something I tell my clients all the time: progress does not always look like completion.

My home gym slowly became a catch-all while my son moved back from college and, less than two months later, prepared to relocate to another state.

I knew I wanted the room back. I even started imagining it differently: a space for yoga, movement, classes, and a little more calm.

But my capacity was full.

Work, family, clients, professional growth, and all the emotions that come with watching your child begin a new chapter were taking my attention elsewhere.

So the gym stayed in that in-between stage.

Not forgotten. Just pending.

And maybe we need to normalize that more.

Sometimes progress is not the finished room. Sometimes it is finally seeing the space differently, understanding what you need from it now, and knowing you will come back to it when you have the capacity.

Our homes change because our lives change.

Progress looks different for everyone. Let’s honor your pace.

What space in your home is currently in its “pending” stage?

Sometimes organizing is not about making a space look better.

Sometimes it is about noticing that life has changed…and the home needs to change with it.

As we age, something as simple as where we store everyday items, how easily we can reach what we need, or whether a space feels safe to move through can start to matter in a completely different way.

Organizing during our golden years can mean simplifying routines, reducing risks, making fewer daily decisions, and creating an environment that helps preserve independence for as long as possible.

It can also mean making thoughtful decisions about our belongings now, rather than leaving all of those decisions to the people we love later.

Our homes evolve with us.

And sometimes the most supportive thing we can do is recognize when they need to work differently for the season we are entering.

Safety. Independence. Dignity.

What a great way to finish my day🤗

A great client session, a great dinner, and now some quiet time with a book that just arrived.

📖 The Chronic Disorganization Tapestry by the Institute for Challenging Disorganization

I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on this one, and I can’t wait to dive into it.

There’s something about ending a full day of doing the work with a little time to keep learning about the work that feels just right.

A pretty good way to close the day😍
