“Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the scriptures: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is amazing in our eyes”?’” (Matthew 21:42, NRSVue).

Today's bulletin features a photo of a Christian Churches Together gathering, and a reflection on that gathering. Photo and text are by Wendy McFadden.

💛 Bring Sunday’s Bible story home! Try these simple activities together throughout the week as your family talks about God, wonders together, and grows in faith.

📖 Read pages 88–89 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Psalm 139. The psalmist wrote, “I praise you, for I am made in a wonderful way.” Name something wonderful that you can do.

🗣️ Talk. Share three things that make each family member special. How does it feel to know God knows everything about you and loves you?

🙏 Pray. As you touch each finger of one hand, thank God for different body parts and something that body part can do. For example, “Thank you for my fingers that can write and draw.”

This historical novel follows the many lives and lies of Elias Leander Muller who, in the wake of the Panic of 1893, abandons his family and reinvents himself. Eventually conning his way into Brethren pastorship through some very strategically placed articles in The Gospel Messenger, precursor to today's Messenger magazine, Leander tells lie after lie until even he couldn't keep them straight anymore.

Walking a labyrinth, hiking in the woods, climbing a mountain, strolling the beach, and taking a bike ride are often spiritual experiences. Not only because we’re savoring God’s creation, but because we’re setting out, exploring (maybe even getting lost!), and finding our way back to where we started. And we’re never the same when we get back to the beginning. We’ve returned to Advent; our Christian year begins again. Let’s find our way through this season together.

Anna Lisa Gross is a pastor with Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

💛 Bring Sunday’s Bible story home! Try these simple activities together throughout the week as your family talks about God, wonders together, and grows in faith.

Read pages 114–115 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Isaiah 40:12–31. Act out soaring like eagles.

Talk. Share with one another about what’s coming up in the week ahead. When will you need God's strength the most?

Pray. "Strong God, give us courage and strength when we are tired or afraid. Amen."
