Community Resource Center
Community Resource Center (CRC®) is a nonprofit helping our neighbors create paths to healthy food, stable homes and safe relationships.
Our vision is communities Communities where everyone has access to the resources they need to live with dignity. After seeing so many in need, local community, faith-based and business leaders collaborated to form an organization to address homelessness and food insecurity among low-income community members. Since 1979, Community Resource Center has grown from providing basic needs for families in crisis, to offering a comprehensive continuum of safety net services - emergency assistance, case management, counseling, shelter and food - to low-income individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness, including domestic violence survivors and their children.

Today is DAF Day. If donor-advised funds are new to you, here’s a quick look at how they work. However you choose to give, we’re grateful for the many ways our community shows up for one another. 💙
A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a charitable giving account that allows you to set aside funds for charitable purposes and recommend grants to nonprofit organizations over time. For many donors, it offers a simple and flexible way to organize giving and support the causes that matter most to them.
One of the benefits of a DAF is choice. You can recommend grants throughout the year and decide whether to support a nonprofit’s greatest needs or a specific area of its work.
At CRC, DAF grants can help neighbors across North County access healthy food, housing assistance, domestic violence shelter and support, and other resources they need to move toward safety and stability.
If you already have a DAF, today is a good opportunity to think about the organizations and causes you want to support. And if DAFs are new to you, it’s simply a chance to learn more about how they work. Learn more at CRCNCC.org/DAF

What will your DAF do?
DAF Day is tomorrow, October 8. If donor-advised funds are new to you, a DAF is a charitable giving account that lets you set aside funds for giving and recommend grants to nonprofit organizations over time.
One of the benefits of a DAF is the flexibility to support the causes and communities that matter most to you and choose where you’d like your charitable dollars to make an impact. DAF grants to CRC help support neighbors across North County facing hunger, homelessness and trauma, helping provide access to food, housing support, domestic violence services and other critical resources.

On October 1, CRC joined the San Diego Domestic Violence Council at Your Safe Place, Family Justice Center for a powerful Domestic Violence Awareness Month Opening Ceremony. 💜
Thank you to every speaker, including San Diego County District Attorney (DA Summer Stephan) and especially to the survivor who courageously shared her story of hope and healing.
During the ceremony, we took part in a candle lighting to remember the nine San Diegans killed by an intimate partner in the past year. Thank you to the San Diego Domestic Violence Council, Your Safe Place and everyone who helped begin this month with remembrance and reflection.
CRC staff Rebecca, Luis, Leticia, Zulma and Fernanda were grateful to be part of the gathering and stand alongside so many others committed to supporting survivors and preventing violence.

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to support survivors, honor those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence and help connect people with resources. Our CEO John Van Cleef joined CBS 8 San Diego and Esmeralda Perez to talk about the importance of supporting survivors, sharing resources and helping people know where to turn for help.
San Diego County District Attorney DA Summer Stephan noted that law enforcement received more than 14,000 domestic violence-related calls during the past year, and that domestic violence remains underreported.
