Today begins Hispanic Heritage Month, and this year it feels a little different.

I’m a Hispanic woman. I’m Latina. I’m a Texan. I’m an educator. And I’m a bookstore owner.

I didn’t grow up dreaming that one day I would own a bookstore. But somehow, here I am, with a little pink bookstore on wheels, bringing books into communities and building something that is completely my own.

When I started looking into Latina and Hispanic-owned bookstores, I realized there are so many incredible people doing this work across the country. I don’t know exactly how many of us there are, and I’m not going to pretend I do.

But I know I’m proud to be one of them.

I’m proud of where I come from, proud of the woman who built this, and proud that One Last Chapter gets to be part of the story.

Here’s to our stories, our culture, our communities, and the chapters we’re still writing. 💛
