Currently, our three community outreach programs include:
1) Dafmark Creative Arts Center @ The John E. This program serves youth ages 6-18 who live in the City of Erie, with a focus on serving those in public housing. It runs year round, Monday - Friday from 2:30 - 6:30PM. Classes are FREE and taught by professional artists in the following art forms: theater, dance, music, painting, drawing, mixed media, stop motion animation, digital arts, video production, photography, clay, and sewing.
2) Partners in Dance program with Erie Homes for Children & Adults (EHCA). This program has been running for 20 years and brings biweekly dance lessons to the lives of adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Our annual spring culminating event has the EHCA dancers perform in conjunction with dancers from Dafmark Dance for family, friends, and community.
3) Artist in Residence at St. For the past 9 years teaching artist, Jennifer Dennehy, has been bringing dance into the classroom setting at St. Teaching the Pennsylvania Early learning Standards through creative dance to 6 classrooms with children ranging in age from 2-6. Additionally, all 3 school aged classrooms participate in an after school dance program teaching hoop dance, jazz, hip-hop, and creative dance fundamentals. All classes are FREE to those participating. We specialize in customizing programs to meet the needs of our partnering schools/organizations.

This semester our youth at the Dafmark Creative Arts Center have been working with teaching artist, Mr. Aaron, in Wood Working class to learn the importance of tool safety and development of self sufficiency. With time and determination they will construct a free library for our community here at the John E. Horan Garden Apartments. The power and future is in their hands!
