🍎Getting Ready for a Great Year at St. Luke School 🍎

Getting ready for school is about more than backpacks and pencils. It is also about helping your child feel emotionally ready!

🎨 Preschool & Kindergarten: Read about it with them. Picture books about starting school give big feelings words and make the unknown feel familiar. A few cozy reads this week can turn "What will school be like?" into "I know what to expect."🎨

📚 Elementary (Grades 1 to 5): Talk things through. Ask what they are excited about and what they are wondering about, then gently roleplay the little worries (aka "What if I can't find my classroom?"). Saying a worry out loud makes it smaller, and it gives you the chance to reassure.📚

✏️ Middle school (Grades 6 to 8): Set a goal or two. Invite your child to name one academic goal and one personal goal for the year. A goal they choose gives the year direction and a sense of agency, and it opens the door to a bigger conversation about what they are hoping for.✏️

However your child heads back, skipping in or a little unsure, our St. Luke's family is ready to welcome them. ☺️ We cannot wait to see their faces, hear about their summers 🌞, and settle into a wonderful year together!

🌹 Today the Church celebrates St. Mary Magdalene, called the "Apostle to the Apostles" since the early Church. Fittingly for our school family, she's first introduced in the Gospel of Luke (8:1–3), traveling with Jesus and providing for Him and the Twelve out of her own means.

She stayed at the foot of the Cross when almost everyone else had fled, and on Easter morning she became the first person to see the Risen Christ, and the first He sent to spread the news of the Resurrection. ✝️

In 2016, the Holy See raised the liturgical rank of her Memorial to a Feast, placing her celebration on the same level as the Apostles she was sent to proclaim the Resurrection to.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Today the Church honors Mary under one of her oldest titles, taken from the mountain where the prophet Elijah watched a small cloud rise off the sea and knew the drought was finally breaking. (1 Kings 18:44)

The feast lands close to home for us. St. Luke Parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish are partners, sharing clergy, a parish office, and a bulletin. OLMC is our partner parish, and today is her feast day.

To every family who calls either church home, and to the parish community that shares our campus: this one is yours. We are glad you are here.

Our LAST DAY!! This morning, we spent some time together celebrating both students and teachers. We recognized those students in grades K-7th that were classroom aides, members of Student Council and altar servers. We had students who got Young Writer awards for their creative writing, students who showed growth in their NWEA Map testing and first and second honors for the fourth quarter.
We also awarded students the Arms of Christ award, the Hi-Hello award and the St. Luke Crusader award.
We also acknowledged a few of our teachers with awards voted on by their coworkers such as the Rising Star award, the Dependability award, the Above & Beyond award and so many others!
We presented Mrs. Wishnok with the Teacher of the Year award!!
Congratulations to everyone, students and staff for all they have accomplished this 25-26 school year!! We are so proud of everyone!!

Camp Notre Dame was where our 6th and 7th graders spent yesterday for one last day of bunding, fun and memories!! Their day started with praying the Devine Mercy Chaplet as a group and taking a few minutes to reflect on their year.
Archery, fishing, canoeing and even a few games of swampball was on their schedule for the remainder of the day! What a great way to end their school year!! 🫶🐟🍁🪺🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️🎯🫶
