Another successful work party in Alton Baker! We removed four buckets and two trash cans of nonnative queen annes lace, curly dock, bull thistle, and moth mullein, and saw some cute pollinators and ospreys! Thanks to the awesome volunteers that showed up and helped make a dent in the w**ds, we’ll be back out here in August so keep an eye out for more events!

Very exciting survey in Willamette National Forest yesterday, we spotted a monarch butterfly and found eleven eggs! This was our first time seeing a monarch butterfly with volunteers on these trips, thank you to all of the volunteers that joined us and made this survey possible! Monarchs are rare in the cascades this far up their migration route, and Walama has joined restoration efforts to improve milkw**d habitats and strengthen monarch populations here. Stay tuned for more volunteer field trip opportunities in the forest this year, and keep an eye out for next year’s monarch surveys.
