A practice exam is about so much more than the score.
Every practice exam is an opportunity to learn more about yourself as a test taker. Use it to practice your timing, identify content areas that need more attention, and experiment with different test-taking strategies.
And don’t stop at the questions you missed! Review the rationales and ask yourself:
Why did I get this question wrong?
Why did I get this question right?
Was it content knowledge, clinical reasoning, or my test-taking strategy?
Then use what you learned to adjust your study plan and make your next study session more purposeful.
Don’t just take the exam. Learn from it.

When you read an NBCOT®-style question, what does your brain immediately connect it to?
Our new First Impression Quiz series is designed to help you practice active recall and strengthen those quick connections between key words, concepts, conditions, and interventions.
Here’s the idea: We’ll give you a topic and ask you to identify your first impression before you start analyzing the answer choices.
But remember—your first impression is a starting point, not the final answer! These quizzes are meant to offer suggestions for how you might begin thinking about a question. Your first impression will not always lead directly to the correct answer, and you should never choose an answer simply because it matches your initial thought.
Instead, use that first impression to:
✔️ Actively recall what you know about the topic
✔️ Bring relevant information to the front of your mind
✔️ Identify concepts that may be important
✔️ Then carefully read, analyze, and apply your clinical reasoning to the **actual question being asked**
The more often you practice retrieving information instead of simply rereading it, the stronger those connections become.

Joining TherapyEd Online Office Hours is easy.
Every Tuesday at 7:00 PM ET, TherapyEd faculty host live, interactive Online Office Hours designed to support you throughout your NBCOT exam preparation.
There are two easy ways to access the sessions. Scan the QR code provided, or visit the TherapyEd website, select Online Office Hours from the menu, and choose Join Our Online Office Hours.
During each session, you can review important topics, strengthen your clinical reasoning and test-taking skills, and ask questions directly to experienced TherapyEd faculty.
Cannot join us live? Most sessions are posted to our YouTube channel later in the week so you can continue learning on your own schedule.
