Open Studio Project’s mission is to provide a welcoming environment for people of diverse backgrounds and abilities to create art that stimulates personal growth, enhances social-emotional learning, and promotes community well-being. In-person and virtual process-arts workshops, classes, art therapy, professional development, SEL curriculum.
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out to our dedication ceremony this past weekend! It was a truly special afternoon. We are so grateful to all of our community partners, arts organizations and local government support who made this all happen. Come on by and take a look! Whether you’re far away or up close, it’s truly a sight to behold.☀️✨
Time to celebrate!!! Our masterpiece is complete, after a year of planning and an entire summer of hard labor including masonry work, painting and installing mosaics, the latter of which were made by YOU! Our wonderful and dedicated community members. Come celebrate all the hard work, find your tile and gawk at its beauty with us TOMORROW! Thank you endlessly to our sweet community partners for donating treats for the event ButtonBakery and La Principal. We’ll see you tomorrow in front of the mural from 1-3pm!

Update! Due to forecasted rain this weekend, the Main Street Mural Dedication party is POSTPONED to 9/26!

POSTPONED TO 9/26 BECAUSE OF RAIN! Join Open Studio Project for the long-awaited community dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the incredible new mural by artist Oscar Joyo ! Officially titled “Welcome Back to Main Street: A Community Mural for Evanston,” the project features a monumental wall painted by Oscar, along with mosaic elements including handmade clay tiles created by members of the community. The mural was envisioned to bring the neighborhood together with a message of healing, resilience, and creativity.
The afternoon features hands-on art activities for all ages, music from DJ Johnny Price, food from neighborhood eateries, and opportunities for residents, community partners, and local leaders to experience the Main Street Mural and learn more about its impact.
