Best Friend Rodent Rescue is a no kill, 501 (C) (3) non-profit animal shelter and rescue dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for neglected and abandoned small animals, primarily domestic rats, from other shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes and local veterinarians, we are able to rescue hundreds of small animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.
We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet rat owners by providing education, information on responsible pet ownership including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition for this often misunderstood and underappreciated animal.

We still have theae amazing rats born 6/6/26 - 6/20/26! There is not a shy rat in the bunch!! Personality and health wise they are actually some of the most amazing rats that we have come across in a long time! They just desire love and attention if you have some time or want to add a few of these rats to your mischief please reach out. If you've already sent in an application send us a message through this page and we will have someone get back to you as soon as we can! Here are pictures of some of the boys that really need more one on one love and attention than we can give them here. They demand it! Until we get some more of these gorgeous rats to their forever homes we're not able to help with other surrender requests. Come meet some of these rattos and let them convinceyou!

Thank you soo much to the lovely and talented Jeni M. She’s known for going above and beyond for the Rats and me here at . However, this time she’s truly out done herself! She knew it might be a while before we’d be able to see her again so she’s been spending any extra time she could find to make us 410 magnificent hammocks!! Pics of the hammocks before they were bagged up and on their way to us! Plus another pic of some of the ratties here enjoying one of Jeni’s previous hammocks!

Edit to add: This guy is available for adoption along with 20 of his other male siblings. Honestly, I think he’s pooped out from trying to get all the adopter’s attention this weekend! These guys are all amazingly sweet, playful and love people! Maybe your next Best Friend is waiting for you here!?!?
