A LONGER BOATING SEASON DOESNâT ALWAYS MEAN SMOOTHER SAILING
Milder fall weather may give boaters more opportunities to get underway, that's the good news. Here's the bad, this can also create a less predictable boating calendar.
Earlier launches, later haul-outs and spontaneous shoulder-season trips can mean:
⢠More engine hours and battery use
⢠Maintenance needs that no longer follow the calendar
⢠Shorter daylight and unexpectedly late returns
⢠Warm air paired with dangerously cold water
⢠Fewer off-season marina and waterfront services
⢠Rapidly changing weather and water conditions
When boats remain active longer, knowing what is happening between visits becomes increasingly important.
Boat Fix provides actionable telematics, battery monitoring, GPS location, trip playback, geofences, engine-hour information and weather updates tied to the boatâs location. When an extra outing turns into a mechanical problem, boaters can also reach the live 24/7 Mechanical Helpline.
The boating season may be becoming more flexibleâbut preparation, monitoring and live support matter in every season.

September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks on our nation.
Boat Fix humbly pauses to remember and honor all those whose lives were forever changed on that tragic day.
We especially want to recognize and thank the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running awayâputting their own lives at risk to help and save others. Their courage, sacrifice, and selflessness will never be forgotten.
We pray for all those who lost their lives that day, and for the brave men and women who survived, only to later suffer the devastating effects on their health.
We pray for the families and loved ones who continue to carry the pain of unimaginable loss, and for all those who have found the strength to carry on.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.
We will never forget!
This message is being shared today simply out of respect and remembrance.

In short, ABSOLUTELY YES IT DOES!
If your boat loan, marina agreement or another contract requires coverage from an insurer with a minimum rating of Aâ it most definitely does. An agencyâs rating reflects their opinion of an insurerâs financial strength and ability to meet its ongoing obligations. The scale that is customarily used is:
An Aâ rating is considered âExcellentâ
A B+ rating is considered âGoodâ
And B is considered âFairâ
If a carrier falls below a contractually required rating, your policy does not necessarily disappear or become invalid. The coverage contained within the policy may may no longer satisfy the applicable agreement. This could require you, the boat owner, to find replacement coverage from an acceptable carrier.
Boaters should confirm the actual underwriting company, check that company's current rating, review lender or marina requirements, and ask their insurance professional how rating changes are monitored and communicated to policy owners.
IMPORTANT: It is never a good idea to cancel an existing policy until replacement coverage is confirmed and bound. A lapse can leave the vessel and you, the owner, exposed. Take care to know your chosen carrierâs financial rating and how it could affect you and your policy.

A LONGER BOATING SEASON DOESNâT ALWAYS MEAN SMOOTHER SAILING
Warmer spring days and milder fall weather may give boaters more opportunities to get underway, that's the great news. Here's the not-so-good news, this can also create a less predictable boating calendar.

Labor Day weekend can feel like the final day of a great vacation. Everyone wants one more tube ride, one more swim, one more sandbar session, and one final sunset before heading home. Make sure your last trip of summer gets the same preparation as the first.
Before leaving the dock:
⢠Check the battery, fuel and engine condition
⢠Test that navigation lights and safety equipment are working
⢠Make sure everyone has a properly fitted life jacket and that there are enough for everyone
⢠Choose a sober operator and maintain a proper lookout at all times
⢠Check the marine forecast and file a float plan
⢠Leave enough time to return before conditions or visibility change
U.S. Coast Guard statistics reinforce the importance of these precautions. In 2024, 3,887 reported recreational-boating incidents involved 556 deaths and 2,170 injuries. Drowning accounted for 76% of fatalities, and 87% of those who drowned were not wearing a life jacket.
For boaters enrolled through participating Boat Fix programs, battery monitoring and access to the 24/7 mechanical helpline provide an additional layer of support when an unexpected mechanical concern develops.
Enjoy the final trips of summerâbut never let the excitement of one more day push safety or maintenance aside. End summer with memories, not an emergency.

The last cruises of the season may be on the horizon, but a little work now can make getting back on the water next spring much easier. Our End-of-Season Boating Checklist covers the important stepsâfrom cleaning, winterizing and documenting maintenance to reviewing Boat Fix trip history, protecting batteries and keeping monitoring active when practical.
Save this checklist, share it with another boater and check each item off before your boat settles in for the winter. Always follow the manufacturerâs instructions and recommendations for your boat, engine, batteries and installed systems.
