Leave a little sparkle wherever you go. ✨🎤🦋Dolly Parton
I was lucky enough to see Dolly at Radio City Music Hall on her Backwoods Barbie tour in 2008, when I was living in NYC. It remains one of the most unforgettable shows of my life. ❤️✨
Around that same time, encouraged by some musical friends there, I had begun singing. I was working with a Manhattan rockabilly band, and they suggested I sing “Jolene.” Dolly was already an inspiration to me, so performing one of her songs felt especially meaningful - (and challenging to my beginner self!)🎤
Before the show even started, the buzz in the theater was ELECTRIC. ⚡️The crowd was colorful, sparkling, joyful —LOTS of gay fans, drag queens dressed to the NINES in their Dolly finest —all of us there to see this one beautiful shining star. 🌟😍
Then Dolly appeared, and the place ERUPTED. Everyone leapt to their feet. And when she sang her first few notes - TEARS LITERALLY SHOT out of my face! 💦 Instantaneously. Unexpected. Just this seismic burst of emotion.💥So powerful & pure was the vibration of that angelic voice that it shot straight from the stage directly to my heart in an INSTANT! 🎯It took me aback! But when I looked around and saw every face alight with joy, love, awe, I just I let those happy tears flow!👸🤩
Dolly was a brilliant songwriter, a singer of other-worldly talent, and an absolutely amazing entertainer. And as much as I loved Dolly the artist, I loved who she was in the world just as much. ❤️
She believed deeply in the dignity and worth of ALL people—in kindness, compassion, generosity & living without judgment—and she put those beliefs into action again and again. Children’s literacy & education, poverty relief, LGBTQ+ equality, racial equality, HIV/AIDS awareness, healthcare, disaster relief & support for struggling families. Dolly didn’t just talk about loving your neighbor. She lived it. ❤️
For those couple of hours, Dolly’s voice, light, humor, heart and humanity lifted and united us, her joyous, ever-adoring crowd. What a gift it was to be in that room—what a gift for all of US to have lived on this planet when she did and to share her music & spirit with one another. ✨💖🎶 Let’s continue her mission to spread love & kindness & compassion & courage through our art, and our everyday words and actions. 🤲🎶❤️ Rest in Peace, Radiant Angel. ✨😇🎶🕊️ We will always love you♥️

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy”☀️🎶💙
And on a gorgeous August nite with summer slowly waning, it sure was. 💫
Tom Crivellone’s Blues Jam at Park City Music Hall in Black Rock, CT is ALWAYS something to write home about — and last nite’s was super-magical. ✨🎶✨ Man oh man, the spontaneous jams these amazing musicians created on that stage were NEXT LEVEL! 🌟🎸🎤🎶🎹🎺🎷 This is the SPOT to get your blues on, people! So inspiring. 💖
I’ve been wanting to add some straight-up, authentic blues to my repertoire — so I’m taking song suggestions! 🎤 Got any? Lay ’em on me! 💙
