Tonight’s gratitude goes to the people who teach with patience and lead with encouragement.
Teachers, aides, coaches, mentors, and staff can change the direction of a young person’s life one ordinary day at a time.
Who was an educator you will always appreciate?

ONLY IN FALL RIVER! 🔥
Only in Fall River can Border City sound like a separate town even though it is woven into the city's story.

I’ve driven past this little patch of green on Stafford Road plenty of times, but this sign finally made me stop and ask a question.
Who was Sgt. Albert Bradbury?
The answer turned into one of those Fall River history rabbit holes where one little sign opens up a much bigger story.
Albert Bradbury Green sits around Stafford Road, Coral Street and Cambridge Street. According to the City of Fall River’s own park records, the property was purchased on January 1, 1900. It’s tiny, only about 3,790 square feet, but it has been part of this neighborhood for more than 125 years.
And Albert Bradbury wasn’t even the original name.
The Phillips History of Fall River lists both “Buffinton Park” and “Cambridge Green” as earlier names for what later became Albert Bradbury Green.
That same Fall River history gives us another interesting piece.
After the city created its Park Commission in 1901, the commissioners hired the Olmsted Brothers, the famous landscape architecture firm, to work on several projects around Fall River. The history specifically includes Albert Bradbury Green among the areas developed during that period, along with South Park, Ruggles Park, Durfee Green and parts of Eastern Avenue.
There is one little wrinkle, though.
A more modern City of Fall River parks report lists the designer of Albert Bradbury Green as “unknown,” so I don’t think it would be fair to simply say the green we see today is a confirmed Olmsted design. The historical connection is there, but the records aren’t completely clean on exactly who designed this specific little space.
Then we get to the man on the sign.
The city says the green was dedicated in tribute to Sgt. Albert Bradbury, who lived from 1897 to 1937.
And this is where it gets frustrating.
I went looking for the rest of his story. What branch did he serve in? What unit? Was he a World War I veteran? Why was this particular green named for him?
So far, I haven’t found a reliable archival record that answers those questions well enough for me to tell you they’re fact.
There are Bradbury family records connected to Fall River, including an Albert Bradbury Sr., but I have not found enough evidence to say that man and the Sgt. Albert Bradbury honored here are definitely the same person. I’m not going to connect those dots just because they look like they might fit.
So for now, we actually have a little Fall River mystery sitting right out in the open.
A green purchased in 1900.
At least two earlier names.
A connection to the period when the Olmsted Brothers were working on Fall River’s park system.
And a memorial to Sgt. Albert Bradbury, 1897–1937, whose full story still needs to be found.
How many times have you driven right past this sign without thinking twice about it?
And here’s the bigger question.
Does anyone out there know the Bradbury family, remember hearing this name, or have an old clipping, military document, photograph or family record that might help us finally figure out who Sgt. Albert Bradbury was?
Sometimes Fall River history isn’t sitting in a book.
Sometimes it’s sitting in somebody’s drawer.
