SCRAF's 'Magnificent 7' head to Lexington FALLBROOK – Seven recently retired racehorses. Six Southern California Pony Club members. More than 2,000 miles between home and Kentucky. And one shared belief: the finish line doesn't have to be the end of a thoroughbred's story. This October, Sandia Creek Ranch Auxiliary Foundation (SCRAF) of F...

Where Del Mar's thoroughbreds go after the finish line The crowd cheers as thoroughbreds race toward the finish line, but for the horses, that finish line is only one part of their day and their racing career is only one part of their lives.

We are incredibly honored to announce that Sandia Creek Ranch Auxiliary Foundation has been awarded a grant from the Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA)!
This generous support directly impacts our mission to provide a secure future for Thoroughbreds as they transition into their next chapters. We are profoundly grateful to the TCA for recognizing our work and standing alongside us in advocating for these incredible equine athletes.
Thank you to our dedicated team, volunteers, and supporters who make this work possible every day.

💐 Happy Mother’s Day 💐
Today we celebrate the Pony Club moms who do so much more than just “horse show mom” duties. 💙🐴
The moms who wake up before sunrise…
Who haul horses, braid manes, clean tack, pack lunches, hold ponies, sew saddle pads, and somehow still remember where everyone’s gloves went.
The moms behind the cameras who stand in the rain during lessons…
Who cheer from outside the arena…
Who encourage perseverance after tough rides and celebrate quiet victories no one else sees.
And especially the moms who chose horses for their children - not because it’s easy… but because they understood the value of hard work, responsibility, sweat equity, compassion, and learning to care for something greater than themselves.
Horse kids learn early that success isn’t handed to you.
Stalls still need cleaning.
Horses still need feeding.
Tack still needs scrubbing.
And living, breathing animals teach lessons that cannot be learned from a screen.
The moms who help raise not only riders - but kind, capable, hardworking humans -
deserve to be celebrated too!
Pony Club is about more than riding, and so much of that begins with the families supporting it behind the scenes.
Thank you for the miles driven, the sacrifices made, the lessons taught, and the unconditional love that helps our members grow both in and out of the saddle.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible Pony Club moms, grandmas, mentors, and barn moms who help keep this community strong. 💙
Proper “Hands-on” Horse experiences and responsibility for another living being feeds well into helping to develop cognitive learning and happy students. Not just “show kids with grooms” but actual horse lovers who work to understand and care for their horses …💕

Dental Day Today 😁
Beyond great full for After the Finish Line's dental grant for our Off Track Thoroughbreds.
Pictured below is Savel a California bred and raced TB. Some really sharp points taken down and a correction to the ramp in her molars will hopefully make her a much happier horse and help her put on some weight.
