Obituary for Tracy Lee Blake
Tracy Blake of Federal Way, Washington, passed away in Corvallis, Oregon, on August 23, 2026, while holding his wife Monica’s hand after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. His faith, sense of humor, graciousness, and love of people never wavered even in the face of such a devastating disease.

Tracy is survived by his wife, Monica; his children, Lindsey (Ian), Ryen, and Isaac; his parents, Donald and Cheryl; his siblings, Wendy (Martin), Robin (David), Dustin (Becky), Cody (Bridgette), Mitzi (Mathew), Alisha Lynn (Nathaniel), and Heather. He was preceded in death by his brother Timmy.

Tracy earned a degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Oregon State University. His career included leadership roles in industrial and manufacturing engineering, culminating in 12 years with Boeing as an Industrial Engineering Manager.

Tracy is remembered as active, caring, generous, and service-oriented, with a deep love of the outdoors and nature. He was known for his warmth, friendship, and willingness to help others. His personal interests included biking, hiking and camping, spending time with his wife, children and extended family playing games, going on walks, taking trips and building memories.

Tracy served as Vice President of Projecto Honduras and on the Board of Directors alongside his wife, Monica. While serving onsite in Honduras you could find him sorting clothing, delivering school supplies to children in the cloud forest, helping at the Clinic of Angels, or serving at the Hartman Eye Clinic - his favorite. Tracy gave his time with steady care and joy.

A Celebration of his Life for friends and family will be held on September 26 at 2 p.m. at Christ’s Church, 941 S. Dash Point Rd. Federal Way, Washington.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Tracy Blake passed away on Sunday, 8/23/26. He has served as the Vice President of Projecto Honduras for many years. Previously, he served as a member of the Projecto Honduras Board of Directors with his wife Monica. Tracy and Monica traveled to Honduras frequently to serve the people there. You could find him sorting clothes in the warehouse, delivering school supplies to children in the cloud forest, helping in the Clinic of Angels, or serving the the Hartman Eye Clinic (his favorite). His passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts. He will be missed by all who knew him. We invite you join us in prayer for his family, his friends, and for Projecto Honduras during this difficult time.

Blanca is a woman from Trujillo, Honduras, who tragically passed away after complications related to heart surgery. Blanca underwent an initial heart surgery in the U.S. for a mitral valve issue but required a second surgery for her pulmonary valve, which was never completed due to her mother's decision to not wait. Despite the efforts of Projecto Honduras to support her, it was too late for Blanca by the time she sought help, as her health had significantly deteriorated, evident from her purple hands in the photo. The story underscores the challenges faced by patients in need of medical assistance in the region. Projecto Honduras does much to provide medical assistance in the region.

The people living in the cloud forest of Honduras, primarily consist of women and children. They often gather under a tree, using its roots as makeshift chairs, highlighting their connection to the earth. Many men have left the area to seek employment elsewhere. The absence of men is a significant drain on the local economy and a strain on families. The region has seen many young boys also preparing to leave. Projecto Honduras primarily treats this demographic in it's Clinic if Angels.

Projecto Honduras works with the non-profit organization SEE International. They have come to the Hartman eye clinic on multiple occasions to perform eye surgerys. Together, we have done so much to alleviate suffering in this part of Honduras. Check out this video See International produced.

Projecto Honduras built a soccer field touted as one of the highest quality fields in the region. While the field is not quite regulation size, it is well-maintained and the field features electric lighting, partially funded by the mayor. It is actively used almost every day when the weather permits, serving as a vital recreational space for the community. Projecto Honduras has supported the surrounding communities for decades!

Projecto Honduras built a stadium used for various community events. The stadium hosts meetings for local cattle ranchers and gatherings organized by the mayor. It has a capacity to accommodate around 300 people at a time. The stadium features cement benches and a court used for basketball and futsal (indoor soccer). It serves an important role in the community with activities nearly every night.

Dr. Rose and his volunteer medical team of registered nurses helped at a nursing school. The school was founded through collaboration between Projecto Honduras, the local school district, and supported by medical teams. The nursing school now receives government backing. This nursing school is one of the career paths available for students, who assist at the clinic as part of their preparation for graduation from high school. The nursing students, dressed in green, help compensate for the reduced number of volunteer teams coming to Honduras by serving at the Projecto Honduras clinic.

When Projecto Honduras volunteer teams travel to small villages in the cloud forest, kids often hitch a ride. The experience is a significant event for the children, who eagerly jump on for the ride. This activity is one of the more enjoyable aspects of the team’s work, resembling a carnival ride for the kids, who have a great time during the outing. Note the poor condition of the roads, typical of remote, hard-to-access communities in the mountains. Volunteer team often have to navigate the rough roads to get to the people who are in need.
