Please note that this page is not monitored 24/7. In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1. Community outreach and engagement are important to us at SKF. Social media is one such tool that allows us to connect with a wider audience, interact with residents, build relationships, and share information about the services provided by SKF. SKF monitors its social media sites for compliance with its social media policy and for purposes of records retention. All posts and comments on this site are subject to public disclosure pursuant to RCW 42.56.070. The District retains the right to remove or hide comments deemed inappropriate or prohibited content. SKF may hide, block or delete:
• Comments expressly advocating direct violence or other illegal activity;
• Comments containing or linking to obscenity, which is defined as sexually explicit and/or pornographic content that is patently offensive, appeals to prurient interest, and lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value;
• Comments that are harassing, aggressive, purposefully incomplete, or overtly misleading;
• Comments containing links to malware and/or malicious content that affects the normal functioning of a computer system, server, or browser;
• Duplicate comments posted repeatedly within a short period;
• Comments containing actual defamation against a specifically named person or organization, either as determined by a court or when the comments are patently defamatory by reference to easily discovered facts;
• Comments that contain images or other content that violate the intellectual property or copyright rights of someone else, if the owner of that property notifies us that the property was posted in a comment on our social media account;
• Comments that contain a hyperlink to any website other than those controlled by the District. This will be done without regard to the viewpoint of the comment containing such a link or the content of the site to which the link redirect;
• Comments promoting or advertising commercial services, entities or products;
• Comments that support or oppose political candidates or ballot propositions—see RCW 42.17.A.555;
• Comments which are truly threatening or contain aggressive language or speech, or express maliciously false language or speech;
• Comments that promote, foster or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, physical or mental disability, gender identity or sexual orientation or other recognized protected class;
• Information that compromises the safety or security of the public or public systems, i.e. spam or external links;
• Comments which attribute personal statements, opinions or beliefs to SKF;
• Comments violating the rights of any person or organization protected by copyright, trade secret, patent or other intellectual property, or similar laws or regulations;
• Comments violating the privacy rights of a specific person or persons; or

What an incredible weekend!

**[🦈 WHAT A FIN-TASTIC DAY AT REDONDO! 🌊]**
On behalf of all of us at South King Fire, we want to extend a massive **THANK YOU** to everyone who came out to Redondo Beach yesterday for the annual **Shark in the Park** festival!
From celebrating our unique Sixgill shark neighbors to checking out the amazing marine life at Highline College’s MaST Center Aquarium, it was incredible to see our community come together to pack the street with so much energy, creativity, and fantastic ocean costumes.
* **To our Event Partners:** Huge thanks to the MaST Center, the City of Des Moines, and the Redondo Community Association for organizing such a seamless, safe, and family friendly event.
* **To the Kids (and Kids at Heart):** Thank you for stopping by to say hi to our firefighters, asking great questions, and showing off your shark hats!

# # 🚒 Weekly Wrap Up: Thank You, South King County! 🚒
What a week it’s been! From Federal Way to Des Moines, our crews have been running hard, keeping our neighborhoods safe, and responding to calls across the district. We safely celebrated our nations 250th birthday and this week we celebrated the graduations of 4 new recruit firefighters from the South King County Fire Training Consortium Fire Academy.
We also want to send a massive **THANK YOU** to our incredible community. Whether you pulled over safely for our sirens, waved to our crews on a call, got a sticker or helmet from us at one of our community events, or stepped up to help a neighbor, you make our job so much easier. We truly have the best community partners we could ask for.

* **Stay Hydrated:** With the summer heat rolling in, make sure you and your pets are drinking plenty of water.
* **Watch the Water:** If you're heading out to Puget Sound or our local lakes, please wear a life jacket!

If you are not sure what to do with fireworks you have already purchased, you can:
- Bring them to the town where they were purchased and are legal.
- Go to your nearest Reservation area to learn where, when and how they allow the use of fireworks.

On behalf of everyone at South King Fire, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to our community, neighboring agencies, and members who came together to honor the life and legacy of Dan Borg.
To everyone who poured their time, heart, and hard work into organizing a beautiful, fitting memorial thank you. Your dedication ensured Dan was sent off with the utmost honor and respect.
And to everyone who attended, shared stories, or sent messages of support from afar: your presence and kind words have been a profound comfort to Dan’s family and his fire department brothers and sisters. Seeing our community stand shoulder to shoulder with us reminds us of the strength we share during the toughest times.
Dan dedicated his life to serving and protecting others, and the overwhelming turnout was a true testament to the incredible impact he made.
Please keep the Borg family and our South King Fire family in your thoughts as we continue to navigate this loss.

**IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE regarding the Memorial Service for retired Firefighter Dan Borg** 🖤👩🚒
The memorial service for Dan Borg will be a private ceremony, limited to family, close friends, and all first responders due to space constraints at the venue.
While the service itself is private, we know how deeply Dan Borg touched the lives of so many in our community. If you wish to pay your respects and honor his incredible legacy, we warmly encourage the public to line the procession route.
📅 **Date:** Saturday, June 27th
⏰ **Time:** The procession will begin at approximately **14:30 (2:30 PM)**
📍 **Starting Point:** South King Fire Station 67
Please view the attached route map to find the safest and best viewing locations along the path to honor Dan Borg as he makes his final journey. We ask that all attendees remain on the sidewalks and ensure emergency vehicle clearance at all times.
