On the Sound Transit light rail 🚈, heading to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for a quick trip to Spokane for the Washington State Democratic Party celebration being hosted during the State Convention! It was really cool to hear all the ADA announcements in multiple languages. What a great day to Welcome the World to Washington for the FIFA World Cup!

After Reconstruction came Jim Crow, after voting rights came voter suppression, even today, after hard fought wins came new barriers.

Yet, every generation of Black Americans answered the same question: Will we give up on freedom?

And every generation has answered: NO!

The story of Black America is not merely a story of oppression. It is a story of extraordinary courage. It is a story of people who transformed pain into purpose. People who turned their exclusion into excellence. People who took the unfinished promise of America and pushed it one step closer to fulfillment.

And so, on this Juneteenth, in the 250th year of this American experiment, let’s remember this:

The measure of a nation is not whether it has been perfect. The measure of this nation is whether its people have the courage to keep perfecting it.

Join me in the fight for a more perfect union. Join me in the fight for a future that includes us all!”

Out and about in the community, connecting with our neighbors at their doors! While we missed many of our neighbors in the precinct, folks should always feel comfortable reaching out directly to 360-359-1910! Call or Text anytime!

Grateful to spend time with “journeyman” Josh on his front porch today as he shared frustrations about the increased cost of everything, concerns about his family’s future in WA, and why he feels like government isn’t working for working families anymore. We also got to talk hunting and fishing licenses & barriers to access.

Davina, was gracious with her time and told us about her concerns around homelessness, public safety, and the impacts Seattle’s choices are having on South King County. We also learned more about the increased challenges of home ownership as maintenance costs continue to skyrocket.

Ultimately, meeting you at your doors, hearing what matters most to you and your family, it’s how I stay focused on fighting for you and for a future that includes us all! Hope to see you at your door soon!
