Pets Healing Vets

What better way is there to enter the fall season than introducing our newest PHV pair-- Brad and Florence! 🐾🇺🇸

Brad served in the National Guard for 8 years, and after the passing of his emotional support dog, he came to our shelter ready to welcome a new furry companion into his heart.

We introduced him to Florence, a 9-year-old German Shepherd mix who had been waiting nearly three months for a family, and it was love at first sight— for Brad and the rest of his family.

🇺🇸🐾 Pets Healing Vets families are made possible by our sponsors 849foundation, Canine Cloud Nine, , MISO Energy, Noah's Caring Hands Animal Hospital & Noah's Animal Hospital & 24 Hour Emergency Center, Paws & Play Dog Resort & Training Center, and Tractor Supply Co..

Caesar's here with a special request for all of our Pets Healing Vets Supporters! 🐾🇺🇸

It's been nearly five years since Caesar found his forever home within our Pets Healing Vets program, but did you know that before he became a battle buddy to his veteran, he was an HSHC shelter dog for nearly five months?

At HSHC, we believe a shelter should be more than a place to wait... and for Caesar, a game of tug of war could always make his day a little brighter.

This week is HSHC's all-new ENRICHMENT WEEK, and Caesar is on a mission to help his furry friends at the shelter stock up on all of the toys, puzzles, and enrichment activities they need to make waiting a little easier.

All it takes is one gift —big or small— to help make someone's wait for a forever family a little happier. And who knows, you may just be helping a PHV pet in the making.

Our pets can't choose when they go home. But you can choose how they spend today. 🐾💕

Today, we would like to pause and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

May we take this time to reflect and honor the courage and resilience of the first responders and everyday heroes who stood tall in the face of tragedy that day.

To allow our staff time with their families for the holiday, we will be closed for adoptions today.

If you have found a stray animal or have other concerns, please call your local law enforcement non-emergency number.

We are thankful to our community for everything they do for us. Enjoy the holiday and we will see you tomorrow. 🐾❤️

Strawberry needs more than just a person; she needs her battle buddy 🐾🍓

We have to be honest. Strawberry has until August 31st to find a home. Not because of space or by any fault of her own, but because this shelter turns her into a shell of the dog we once knew her as.

Right now her foster home is the one place in the world where she truly gets to be herself, but when she gets here, the sounds, smells, and sights of the shelter will send her into a panic.

This is her battlefield... and right now, she has no one to watch her back. 💔

Now the part we really need you to hear before you fall for her. Strawberry isn't going to come running and flop over for belly rubs the first time you meet her. Somewhere along the way, she learned that people aren't always safe, so getting to know her takes more than one visit.

Each time you show up, she comes a little closer and trusts you a little more. This is a dog you earn slowly, and the people who have experienced this will tell you there's nothing like the moment she finally looks at you and decides you're safe.

On the other side of that trust, you'll find a three-year-old goofball who wakes up sure that today's the best day ever. She'll hold eye contact while she licks peanut butter off a spoon like it's sacred. She's housebroken, quick to learn, and once she chooses you, she's all the way yours. Her foster family has watched it happen.

She'd be happiest with no other pets, and she will need an adult-only home. We know Strawberry will love you with everything she has the moment she believes she can. She just needs you to reach out to us and ask about her.

Help us save Strawberry. Email [email protected] to learn more or set up a time to meet the real her, somewhere she feels safe.

She's ready when you are.

A few of our shelter pets had a great time visiting with Tractor Supply Co. Foundation over the weekend! 🐾💕

We were so excited to visit one of our favorite corporate sponsors with a few of our adoptable animals. Tractor Supply Co. Foundation is a proud supporter of both our shelter and our Pets Healing Vets program, and we could not be happier to have them as part of the HSHC family.

🙌 Help us give them a big THANK YOU in the comments for all their support, and make sure to stop by your local Tractor Supply for all your outdoor needs.

👟🐾 JOIN US FOR WOOFSTOCK - SATURDAY AUGUST 8TH 🐾👟

Woofstock Survivor 5K & Dog Walk is more than a race; it’s a lifeline. 🐾❤️‍🩹 Join the Humane Society for Hamilton County on Saturday, August 8th, at Launch Fishers and help provide life-saving medical care to animals in crisis through our Survivor Program.

Already this year, we’ve spent over $75,000 on surgeries, emergency care, and recovery for animals who had no one else, and we’re only halfway through the year.

🚨Our goal-- raise $85,000 to replenish the fund and save just as many lives through the rest of this year.

🎽 Register to walk, run, or stroll with your pup → WoofstockRocks.com. While you’re there, start a fundraiser to multiply your impact!

💙 Can’t participate in the race? You can still help by creating a personal fundraiser and sharing it with friends and family.

Whether you cross the finish line or fundraise from home, you’re giving animals the second chance they deserve. And who knos? Some of these Survivors may even end up as future battle buddies in the Pets Healing Vets program.
