When it comes to egg freezing, age matters.

You’re born with all the eggs you’ll ever have, and as you get older, your eggs age with you.

✨ Younger eggs generally have a higher likelihood of being chromosomally normal and may have a better chance of resulting in a healthy pregnancy in the future.

🌸 More mature eggs can absolutely still lead to healthy pregnancies, but as egg age increases, egg quantity and quality generally decline.

That’s why, if you’re considering freezing your eggs, doing it at a younger age can offer an advantage. You’re preserving your eggs at the age—and quality—they are today, rather than the age you’ll be when you’re ready to use them.

There’s no single “perfect” age to freeze your eggs. Your ovarian reserve, health, family-building goals, and individual circumstances all matter.

Thinking about egg freezing? A fertility evaluation can help you better understand your options.

I’m not ready for IVF.

Here’s something important to know: seeing a fertility specialist doesn’t automatically mean IVF.

At Hudson Valley Fertility, your first visit is about understanding your fertility, getting answers, and learning what options may be right for you.

Depending on your individual situation, next steps could include continuing to try naturally, medication, IUI, or IVF.

💙 Your first consultation isn’t a commitment to treatment. It’s a first step toward answers.

Why does folic acid matter when you’re trying to conceive?

You’ve probably heard that folic acid is important during pregnancy—but its role actually begins before pregnancy.

Folic acid (vitamin B9) supports healthy cell development and is especially important during the earliest stages of pregnancy, when major development is already beginning—sometimes before you even know you’re pregnant.

In our latest blog, we cover:
✨ Why folic acid matters when trying to conceive
✨ When you should start taking it
✨ How much is generally recommended
✨ Folic acid vs. naturally occurring folate
✨ Foods that are good sources of folate
✨ What to know if you’re undergoing IUI or IVF

Preparing for pregnancy isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about understanding the steps you can take to support your health along the way. 💙

Did you know folic acid plays an important role even before pregnancy begins?

Folic acid, also known as vitamin B9, supports healthy cell growth and is especially important for those who are trying to conceive or preparing for pregnancy.

🥬 You can find folate naturally in foods like leafy greens, beans, lentils, citrus fruits, avocados, and broccoli. Many breads, cereals, and other grain products are also fortified with folic acid.

💊 A prenatal vitamin or folic acid supplement may also be recommended when you're trying to conceive. The CDC recommends that women who can become pregnant get 400 mcg of folic acid each day to help prevent major birth defects of the baby's brain and spine.

Preparing for pregnancy isn't just about the positive test—supporting your health beforehand matters, too.

Monday Motivation

“Progress, no matter how small, is still progress.”

When you’re on a fertility journey, it can sometimes feel like everything revolves around the next appointment, the next test, the next treatment, or the next answer.

But progress isn’t always something you can see right away.

Sometimes, progress is simply getting through a difficult day.
Sometimes, it’s asking another question.
Sometimes, it’s allowing yourself to rest.
And sometimes, it’s finding the strength to keep hoping.

As a new week begins, remember: you are doing better than you think. Give yourself grace for how far you’ve already come.

Hudson Valley Fertility is here to support you through every step of your journey toward growing your family.
