How I manage records at The Groovy Collective 🪩

Four vintage vendors and I stock the store with records. All records are required to be checked, graded, and priced based on their condition and wear.

For my records priced over $5, I personally clean and inspect them, test questionable ones, replace missing or torn inner sleeves, and add protective outer sleeves. I don’t have the time or capacity to play-test every record priced at $5 or less.

I’m also the only dealer in the store offering new and sealed records. My profit margins on new vinyl are extremely low, which leaves little room to lower prices. Sometimes double LPs are the only versions available when I order, and those come with a higher price point. I do my best to stay competitive, but I can’t always offer Amazon pricing because, well, I’m not Amazon.

With thousands of records coming through the store, an occasional issue can slip through. I always want to sell playable records and make customers happy, so please reach out if there’s an issue with your purchase.

Selling records is incredibly time-consuming alongside managing every other aspect of my business, but I care about what I put on the shelves and want to be transparent about the work that goes into it. 🧡
