A Gulf Coast Local Seafood Tradition since 1973! Charlie & Sandra Wrape purchased it in 1973.

Wolf Bay Lodge is a family – owned Baldwin County tradition known for its high quality fresh seafood & local ambience. Its rich history began as a bait shop nestled in the trees along the beautiful waters of Wolf Bay in Elberta, Alabama in the 1940’s. Through their hard work & determination, they began serving a full menu of delicious seafood recipes – many of which were created by ladies that worked there or lived nearby. Although the restaurant was “off of the beaten path,” it soon became a favorite among the locals & area visitors alike. On December 7th, 2008 the original lodge was completely destroyed by fire. It has since been rebuilt in two locations – Orange Beach & Foley, Alabama – where it continues to be family owned & operated. Wolf Bay Lodge is known for being a local seafood tradition, and prides itself in serving high quality, fresh meals in a family friendly atmosphere. Furthermore, many of the dishes enjoyed today are recipes from the Wrape’s original menu including the seafood gumbo, crab stuffing, stuffed shrimp, stuffed whole flounder, and many of our salad dressings. Our deepest gratitude goes to the loyal employees & customers throughout the years. If this is your first visit with us, we welcome you to the Wolf Bay Lodge family!

Decades of memories, tradition and good food 💙💙

BEFORE IT BECAME A BALDWIN COUNTY SEAFOOD TRADITION, THIS PLACE WAS A BAIT SHOP ON WOLF BAY

A lot of people around Baldwin County know the Wolf Bay name.
But the story didn't begin with a big seafood restaurant.
It began in the 1940s as a small bait shop tucked among the trees along Wolf Bay near Elberta.

Then Charlie and Sandra Wrape bought the place in 1973.
They began developing it into the restaurant generations of locals would come to know, serving seafood recipes that often came from women who worked at the restaurant or lived nearby.

Some of those original recipes survived for decades, including seafood gumbo, crab stuffing, stuffed shrimp and stuffed whole flounder.
And the location itself was part of the appeal.
The old Wolf Bay Lodge wasn't sitting in the middle of a modern shopping development.

It was off the beaten path, tucked beside the water.
Then came December 7, 2008.
Fire completely destroyed the original lodge.
For longtime Baldwin County residents, that meant losing more than a restaurant building.

It was one of those places tied to birthdays, family dinners, vacations and ordinary Friday nights.

But the Wolf Bay story didn't end with the fire.
The family rebuilt the business in Foley and Orange Beach, and the next generation continued operating it.
That's what makes this a great Alabama story.

The original building is gone.
The waterfront bait shop is history.
But something that began quietly along Wolf Bay more than 75 years ago is still part of Baldwin County today.

Sometimes a restaurant survives even when the building doesn't.

Love seeing nights like this at our Orange Beach location! 🎶 Great food, live music and plenty of fun.

Great food on the table, live music playing and the whole restaurant singing along.

We loved reading this recent 5-star review from a guest who joined us with a group and experienced a little bit of everything that makes a night here so special: fried green tomatoes, stuffed mushrooms, spectacular crab cakes, great service and plenty of music.

Thank you for spending your evening with us and for sharing such a fun photo! We hope to see your whole crew back again soon.

Have you ever caught one of those nights when the whole restaurant starts singing? 🎶
