Lavretta Park is getting an upgrade, y'all! The new design includes new specific play areas for ages 2-5 and 5-12 with swings, a rock wall, a zip track, a mound and tunnel section, slides, shade canopies, benches, and many other amenities. We can't wait for the community to enjoy the new features!

WAS Design is honored to have partnered on the design of the newly dedicated Liberty Park at Government Plaza in downtown Mobile. Once an underutilized courtyard, the space has been transformed into a vibrant public park featuring thoughtful landscaping, a central fountain, enhanced lighting, and inviting gathering spaces that reflect the character and history of "Old Mobile."

Dedicated on July 1, the park also marks the beginning of Mobile County's America 250 celebration, creating a lasting place for the community to gather and connect.

West 1st Avenue Improvements Complete! 🌴🚧✨

We’re excited to see the completion of the Beach Walking District Improvements along West 1st Avenue in Gulf Shores. WAS Design was proud to be part of the team helping transform this important beachfront corridor into a safer, more attractive, and pedestrian-friendly destination.

The completed improvements include:
• Reconstructed roadway and enhanced streetscape elements
• New sidewalks and pedestrian connections
• Updated landscaping and green infrastructure
• Stormwater management enhancements
• 33 new public parking spaces between Hwy 59 and West 1st Street

This project reflects a shared vision of creating a more walkable and connected beachfront experience while improving access to the restaurants, shops, and attractions that make Gulf Shores such a vibrant destination.

Congratulations to the City of Gulf Shores and the entire project team on bringing this vision to life. We look forward to seeing residents and visitors enjoy the space for years to come.

Having Gulf State Park-Alabama in our backyard has made this project especially exciting to be a part of! The park has grown so much over the years, and WAS is proud to play a role in helping enhance such an incredible space for the community to enjoy.

Gulf State Park opens largest state-operated RV campground in America Gulf State Park cut the ribbon Monday on its new RV resort, adding 103 premium campsites and making it the largest state park-operated RV campground in the country.

This park renovation has come a long way, and we’ve loved being part of the journey. Grateful for the opportunity to work with the Alabama State Parks Division on projects that enhance parks across our state!
