Gardner Strong

Ready to have his bag changed.

In 12 days he will start back on intensive chemotherapy. He will likely lose his hair and his appetite. I’ve been trying to plumpin him up. He made this pizza tonight after eating 5 cheese sticks, gluten free chicken, broccoli, Doritos with cheese dip. He only ate two bites of pizza it’s enormous. That’s okay as long as he eats. There were so many days before diagnosis he wouldn’t eat. There’s been so many days in treatment he’s not had any appetite. When he’s hungry I let him have most anything he requests.

It’s bucket days at Harbor Freight. Gardner loves a bucket. (I do too because I plant in them.) 😂🙈. He got a big bug swatter that he told me how it works and how he’s going to defeat all the bugs with.

Today was a good day. It was easy not having to fight about medicine. We have hospital in the morning.

I lied to Gardner today, he asked if he has to get his port changed. He did. He hates it. He’s had several traumatic experiences with nurses who needed additional training and were too rough with him. I lied I said I didn’t know. I wanted him to enjoy the day without anxiety. I don’t lie to my kids but he deserves to be a kid. This has stolen so much from him.

We made up a game and he loves playing it. These are just half sheets of paper.
