The amazing time that was had with this one, singular, solo fella, “SJ” was an incredible teaching moment for some of our leaders; not to mention the eye-opening reality of intentionally not pursuing the attactional model for church growth.

Although we had others to register their children, “SJ’s” parents were the first to do so, and the first on campus today (I’ll post a video about that). The interesting irony (evident in pic…regardless of your opinion), is that it connotes that there is no race, creed, color or contamination in the kingdom.

I would be remised if I didn’t speak to the reality the Forney community exhibits by ways of its apathy, lethargy, dismissiveness and the trifecta of infrastructural separation (socially professionally, organizationally, let alone spiritually and even culturally) Although we are a full 10 weeks into our official launch here, I have been in and serving throughout the community for the last 6 months.

If you follow any hashtag of Forney, it is not long before you catch a glimpse of the aforementioned, on any level. No matter how well one is dressed, their essence will eventually unveil, wreak and reveal itself. The same goes with a community. Geographical relocation does not automatically produce a biographical transformation.

Slightly switching gears; It never fails to surprise me when people connect and converse with “Pastor Tim” and commit to all types of unnecessary engagements, only to discover that they never actually make contact until a need arises, and at that time are seeking expeditious results. No issue with it at all due to the fact that the preacher/pastor is often the last considered while people deal with life, while at the same time, often first considered when life deals with them.

This week, our small offering to the community is about simply making sure it knows we care. Our big takeaway from today’s start is the reminder that our focus and faith isn’t affected even when it seems others don’t.

To that end, I close with how I began. Although there was one singular, solo child (I mean literally…ONE) to show up at VBS today, I am proud of our team for showing up and providing a stellar experience of a lifetime, while representing Jesus, for that little 5-year old boy and his father who found there way to Community Fellowship Church of Forney

We’re indeed grateful for the call to a place with such amazing potential!

💔 As a pastor, we often are blessed with many children in and at different stages in life; but once they’re ours, they remain in our hearts for our lifetime.

Heartbroken and heavy are the only adjectives for me right now. My prayers, condolences and support goes out to this “Mama Bear”, Tia and the whole family as we all deal with the tragedy of losing Isaiah. My prayer is that you can rest now, young man, where peace will no longer escape you! Lord, Jesus!
