Forney is beginning the process of becoming a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community — and this could be about a lot more than putting on concerts.

It’s about connecting the people who make a local music scene possible.

…and everybody working behind the scenes.

The bigger question for us:

WHAT COULD A REAL FORNEY MUSIC SCENE LOOK LIKE?

And who is already here creating that we just haven’t discovered yet?

Forney City Council meets tonight at 6:30 PM, and several recognizable development projects are up for consideration:

Important: These site plans are up for Council consideration. They have NOT been approved yet.

Council will also consider proposed utility rate-schedule changes:

💧 Water: +8.7%
🚿 Sewer: +9.9%
🗑️ Garbage: +5%

There is also a proposed change to how residential sewer usage is calculated. These are proposals until Council acts, and the actual impact on individual households would vary by usage and account.

Also on our radar tonight: proposed tighter data-center zoning restrictions, a proposed Goodwill donation collection center, and a proposed data-sharing agreement with the Dallas Housing Authority.

The businesses are the hook. The decisions are the story.

If you're heading downtown for dinner, working late or simply passing through, use caution and be prepared for temporary changes as crews move through the area.

All four are on Tuesday night’s Forney City Council agenda — but there’s an important distinction:

They are NOT approved yet.

The site plans have recommendations for approval from city staff and Planning & Zoning. City Council considers them next.
