Breaking a table down is the easy half. What matters is what happens once it is standing again: slate seams filled, table leveled, cloth stretched flat, rails and pockets set. A table that gets moved and never releveled will tell on you the first time you shoot a long rail.

If you are moving and there is a table in the house, it is worth having someone do this who does it every week.

Slate: a real table has a slate bed, not wood or particleboard underneath. Slate is what keeps the surface flat for decades. Anything else will warp.
Cushion: the rubber behind the rail decides whether your bounce stays true for years.
Cloth: the weave decides how fast the table plays and how long it holds up before it needs replacing.

A flooring contractor called us before they called their client.

New floor going into a Loveland basement, and a slate pool table sitting in the middle of it. The table came apart on August 24 so the crew had a clean room. On September 2 it went back in on the new floor, releveled and racked.

Flooring contractors, remodelers, movers, estate sales: this is the part we handle so nobody on your crew has to guess at it.

The powder blue was already on this PlayMaster. Not our call, but we would not have talked anyone out of it. Blue reads cleaner under warm room lighting than green does and it does not fight a wood rail.

This one came out of a log cabin in Livermore.

We took the table apart and crated the slate. The crates are custom built to the exact size of the table, so the slate cannot shift around on the way.

Slate is the part people underestimate. It does not bend, it cracks, and once it cracks the table is finished. A crate built for the slate it is carrying is the difference between slate that arrives and slate that arrives in pieces.

Teardown and crating are things we do, not just recovers and new tables.
