I have recently be working on this "ghost" technique for photos. What do you guys think? I think it works well for two situations: showing a product in use or with accessories, or showing movement or multiple configurations of a product in a static image. This can work well on any background that isn't moving and requires a bit of pre-planning and precision. All of this work shown here is obviously for Feedback Sports, with some bike cameos from Spot Bikes and Niner.

Sipping my coffee this morning reminded me of this shoot for Shift Work Coffee. This was a quick shoot of just their packaging.

Niner may be dead, but I still have a ton of great photos to post from years of working with them. I just looked in my photo catalog and have 14,870 photos from Niner projects, starting in 2020. And those were only the "keepers", which means I have probably shot at least double that number of images originally. Here's 8 of 14,870. 😜

Bittersweet. This showed up in my mailbox yesterday… full page ad for on the back cover of . 😢 RIP indeed, with Niner shutting down before this made it to newsstands. Many clients don’t use print advertising anymore, which is a shame. It’s always amazing to see my work in print. looking stylish, as always.

I have such a huge back log of images I haven't posted, it's hard to get through them all! Here's a small collection of product images shot for Sports Feedback over the last couple of years that I don't think I've posted before.

I rarely remember to take behind the scenes footage when I'm shooting, but I did for this shot! The delicious can of Outer Range Brewing Co.'s In the Steep IPA was floated with an acrylic rod. The background was lit with a projector light to split it into light and dark halves, mimicking the alpine artwork on the can. I then used a mini cold fog machine to generate a whole series of fog patterns that I combined in post. The final image is a combination of around 20 images. A video piece was also created with a composite of a still image of the can with the motion of the fog. The second image here shows a BTS of the studio setup, the third image shows a raw image before the composite and editing.
