September 21 through 27 is National Pollution Prevention Week. This week and every week, we can prevent pollution before it starts. Here’s a couple of ways to do that.

✔️Pick up your dog’s waste and throw it away.
✔️Carefully wash and maintain cars. Use a car wash to recycle water and treat
harmful soaps and chemicals.

Our kids do better in families, and today the Larimer County Board of Commissioners proclaimed September 2026 Caregiver Appreciation Month.

We honor the role of foster parents, kinship caregivers, grandparents, relatives, close family friends, and child welfare professionals who work tirelessly to provide a stable, supportive home for our youth.

“It makes such a difference in the lives of children. It’s just about providing a safe physical place. It’s also a promise that a lot of people care about kids and won’t give up,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

Caregivers open their hearts and homes to children in times of transition and crisis, to protect and nurture our youth.

Kids do so much better when they are in families. “It’s certainly not rocket science to know that a child growing up in a safe, nurturing environment has a much greater chance of being successful,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas.

“I’m really grateful that we have such caring and kind people in our community that give back to children. Having the support for people who are willing to generously open up their homes to take care of little ones is something I’m glad to applaud and to let our community know that we care about the kids in our community,” said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens.
