At Compass, much of the learning that happens comes from students tackling real-world challenges, working on meaningful projects, collaborating with community partners, exploring their interests, and putting their ideas into action.
They might design a solution to a real problem, build something, conduct research, work with a local organization, or present their learning to an authentic audience.
That’s project-based learning in action. And in a small school where teachers truly know their students, there’s room to ask questions, take risks, discover strengths and grow.
Come tour Compass and see what real-world, project-based learning looks like in action.

Students, are you ready to ride and roll?
Compass Bike to School Week is THIS week! How about trying a different way of getting to school? You could bike, walk, scoot or roll! You might be surprised by how much you like it. And, getting yourself to school under your own power is a pretty great feeling. It builds independence, gets your body moving, and gives you some fresh air.
You don't have to commit to the whole week. Even one day counts. See how it feels September 28–October 2.
Let's get moving!
💙 LOVE SCHOOL.

What if your child's school really knew them? ❤️
Not just their grades.
Not just their attendance.
Them.
Their interests.
Their strengths.
Their questions.
Their potential.
These are just some of the perks of a small school. Compass students are known, challenged and connected, and you can feel that difference when you walk through our doors.
Prospective families: Come get to know Compass.

Compass alum Clara is kicking off her freshman year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a pretty spectacular view of the Charles River.
Oh, and did we mention the rainbow? 🌈✨
Not a bad view, Clara!
Some students learn best by listening.
Others learn best by doing.
In Dawn Dupriest’s classroom, students are building, creating, testing, failing, and trying again—and that’s exactly the point.
As a Mathematics, STEM, and Robotics teacher, Dawn brings learning to life in a way that sticks. Her classroom is full of movement, curiosity, and hands-on problem solving. It’s not about memorizing—it’s about making.
Dawn was drawn to Compass because she believes students learn best when they’re actively engaged and creatively involved—when they get to use their hands, stretch their thinking, and truly build their understanding.
But what stands out most to Dawn is seeing students as whole people. Every student is known for their strengths. Every student is capable. And every student is supported in becoming a confident problem solver who knows they have something meaningful to offer the world.

What if your child could be known, not just numbered?
That’s one of the perks of a small school. Teachers know their students. Students find their people. And learning easily goes beyond the classroom.
