Not everything in your home needs a place to live. šŸ¤Ž

If decluttering feels overwhelming, don’t start with an entire room. Start with one small space and give yourself a clear finish line.

Try this:

• Choose a contained area, like one drawer, one shelf, one category, or the floor space beside your bed.
• Take everything out so you can see what you’re actually working with.
• Group similar items together. You may find you have duplicates hiding in different places.
• Remove anything that belongs somewhere else before deciding what to keep.
• Create four piles: keep here, move elsewhere, donate, and discard.
• Put the ā€œmove elsewhereā€ items in a basket instead of walking around the house and getting distracted.
• Keep only what fits comfortably in the space. If the drawer barely closes or the shelf is difficult to use, you have too much for that area.
• Leave a little empty space so putting things away stays easy.
• Finish by returning only the items you use regularly or genuinely want to keep.

A few helpful places to start:

• The entryway: remove expired coupons, old receipts, and anything that doesn’t belong by the door.
• The kitchen: choose one category, like water bottles, food storage containers, or mugs, and keep only the easiest ones to use.
• The bathroom: check expired products, duplicates, and items you avoid because you don’t like using them.
• The bedroom: clear one surface, such as your nightstand or dresser, and keep only what supports your routine.
• The junk drawer: remove trash first, then group what remains before deciding what deserves the space.

Ask yourself:

• Do I use this in this space?
• Would I choose this again today?
• Do I have another item that does the same job?
• Is this worth the space, cleaning, and maintenance it requires?
• Am I keeping it because I want it, or because I feel guilty letting it go?

The goal isn’t to create a perfectly minimal home. It’s to make each space easier to use and easier to reset.

Sometimes the best organizing solution isn’t another bin. It’s fewer things, clearer categories, and enough empty space to put everything away without a struggle.

Save this for your next one-space-at-a-time decluttering session. šŸ¤Ž

Mom to mom… can we talk about the mudroom for a second?

Because somehow, this is the one spot in the house where shoes multiply, bags get dumped, and nobody can ever find the ONE thing they need when we’re already running late. šŸ™ƒ

The goal isn’t to have a picture-perfect home. It’s to create spaces that actually work for your family and make the everyday chaos feel a little more manageable.

We cleared the clutter, gave everything a home, and made this space functional again. Same mudroom, same family, just a whole lot less overwhelm. šŸ¤Ž

Because mama, you have enough to keep track of. Your mudroom shouldn’t be another thing on the list.

Ready for a space that works with your family instead of against you? Let’s make it happen!

Because coming home should feel good. šŸ¤

Creating spaces that feel a little lighter, calmer, and more like you.

Does anyone actually enjoy walking through their front door and immediately tripping over a pile of shoes? šŸ˜‚

This took about 10 minutes to reset before we moved on to the next area.

And that’s the beauty of a Homey Reset — you don’t always need to spend hours tackling one space. Sometimes you just need someone to take a few things off your plate so you can spend your time on things that actually matter to you.

But here’s the thing: a quick reset will make the pile disappear… but if we don’t address why the pile keeps happening, it’ll be right back tomorrow.

That’s where the deeper organizing comes in. Once we’ve gotten things under control, we can go into the cabinets, declutter what’s actually being used, and create a system that gives everything a home — so things aren’t just shoved away for 30 minutes before the same mess comes right back.

The goal isn’t to constantly tidy your home. It’s to create a home that’s easier to keep tidy. šŸ¤

One of my favorite kinds of organizing: simplifying the things you want to keep. šŸ¤

For this project, we took years of photos out of bulky albums and frames and consolidated them into a simple photo storage system.

The goal isn’t always to get rid of things — sometimes it’s about creating a system that makes what you already have easier to store, find, and enjoy.

Less clutter. More intentional storage. Same memories. šŸ“ø

Phase 1 of this garage transformation is officially underway.

This first session was about creating breathing room — removing what we already know we don’t need and containing what we’re keeping so we could actually see and access the space again.

But this is not the finished product.

One thing I’ve learned is that simply getting everything off the floor and into bins doesn’t necessarily create lasting organization. If we stopped here, we’d have a cleaner-looking garage… but we’d still have bins full of who knows what, and eventually, everything would likely end up right back where it started.

That’s why the next step is so important.

At our next session, we’ll go through every bin and sort everything into keep, donate, sell, or let go. Then we’ll re-contain everything based on what actually needs to stay, create designated homes for each category, and finish with labels so everything is easy to find — and, most importantly, easy to put back.

That’s the difference between putting things away and creating a system.

At Homey, the goal isn’t just to make your home look organized for a day. It’s to create systems that make sense for you, your family, and the way you actually live — so you’re not calling an organizer again a few months later because everything has gotten out of control.

The bins are just the beginning. The system is what makes the organization last.

Your home should be your safe space, not another project to tackle. Let us help create that for you. šŸ¤Ž

This mom was feeling so overwhelmed by one of the most utilized spaces in her home that every time she tried to tackle it, she would end up closing the cabinets and walking away defeated. šŸ¤

Today, we tackled this space together.

Instead of buying a bunch of new products, we worked with what she already had and created a system that actually makes sense for her and her family.

I asked questions. I listened to her routines. We focused on what mattered most:

•Making everyday items easy to access
•Creating more independence for her children through labeling
•Building functionality around how her family actually lives

She had hired organizers before, but the approach had always been the same: a bin and a prayer. šŸ˜‚

And while bins can absolutely be helpful, they aren’t the solution to everything.

Not all homes are the same, and no two organizing systems should be either. What works for one family may not work for another, and that’s okay!

Clients need to be heard first. We need to understand their routines, declutter based on their actual needs, and THEN create systems that make sense.

That’s how we create functionality. That’s how we build systems designed to last.

It’s not about creating a picture-perfect space. It’s about creating a home that works FOR YOU. šŸ”

Here’s a little look at how we transformed this space!

A little cord chaos never hurt anyone… but trying to find the ONE charger you need in that chaos? šŸ˜…

We untangled, sorted, labeled, and contained everything so finding what you need is actually easy.

Because ā€œit’s somewhere in the cord boxā€ isn’t an organizing system. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤

Hey, Everyone! šŸ¤

I’m Brittany, the face behind Homey, and I wanted to introduce you to what I’m building right here in the Fort Mill/Charlotte area.

Homey is for anyone who feels completely overwhelmed by their house… but also doesn’t actually need a ā€œcleaner.ā€

Your counters are covered in stuff.

The playroom exploded.

There’s a basket of laundry that has been sitting there for… let’s not talk about it. šŸ˜‚

You keep buying bins because surely this time you’ll get organized.

And honestly? You don’t need another Pinterest-perfect house.

You need someone to walk in, help you figure out what’s actually working, get rid of the stuff that isn’t, and create systems that make your everyday life easier.

That’s Homey. šŸ”

I help with organizing, decluttering, home resets, unpacking, staging, and even custom built-ins when a space needs a bigger transformation.

But more than anything, I want Homey to help you feel better in your own home.

Because sometimes the difference between:

ā€œI cannot keep up with this house.ā€

and

ā€œOkay… I can breathe again.ā€

is simply having someone come alongside you and reset it.

So if you’ve ever stood in the middle of your kitchen at 9pm wondering how your house got this bad…
