And while the Boy Scouts were touring the opera house, our paint expert, Amy Higgins was up on scaffolding in the middle of the floor painting on the ceiling!! I heard her referred to as Michelangelo more the once😀😀😎!
The boys were careful not to bump the scaffolding & we moved it out of the way for the last minute decision to move the evening events inside. The Scouts were ok with their seats on the floor so we could move the scaffolding back in place easily!

If you were in town this past weekend, you might have seen a lot of Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts roaming around! It was the Fall Camporee & they learned a lot of Fort Recovery history in between rain showers! Saturday afternoon they split into groups to walk to the monument & Pioneer Cemetery, tour battlegrounds, museum, log cabin & the opera house.
Evening activities were moved into the opera house due to rain, so the Scouts that didn’t have to leave due to school activities enjoyed a church service & a very nice flag presentation by several K of C members. We were glad you could use our facility to stay dry for a while!
Thanks to everyone who shared part of their Saturday afternoon with us to visit the opera house during our Open Doors event. Our groups were small, but that gave us time to chat & enjoy the visit as well as provide info about our opera house that particularly interested our guests! Some were from here in Ft Recovery and others were from neighboring areas….Coldwater, Minster, & Anna to name a few. We hope you enjoyed your time here as much as we did! Please share with friends & family & come back again!!

As you know, Fay Morvilius Hart was our professionally trained opera singer from the early 1900s. Fast forward to today, and we have another star that calls Fort Recovery (Sharpsburg) her home!!
A special visitor from Los Angeles, recently graced the stage of the Morvilius Opera House. Cindy Zitter, A graduate of FRHS, has spent the last 20 years successfully, singing and acting in TV shows, commercials and musical plays. What a joy it was to have her share her amazing talent spontaneously with the tour guides and also her parents Tom and Mary Pat Zitter. After the in-depth tour, Cindy said, “I would love to perform in a play here some day.” Ahhh-Yes! We agree!
