Fake Intellectual

There is a difference between creating happiness and creating an illusion of happiness.

For the last two years, Yolanda may have been able to construct a life that made her feel justified, comfortable or even happy. ...but happiness built on a false narrative does not erase the damage caused by the narrative. Lies have consequences beyond the person telling them. You manipulate the truth to justify your actions, you don't just change how people see the father, you change how people see each other. You can turn family against family, children against parents and visions into evidence for a story that never actually happened.

I wasn't the only person hurt by the lies. The children were hurt too.

Two years can look like a long time when you're measuring it in birthdays, school years, missed conversations, missed moments and memories that can never be recreated. ...but two years can also be very short when you're measuring the consequences of decisions that may affect a family for decades.

Yolanda, you can spend two years convincing yourself that you've won.

Meanwhile, another person can spend those same two years losing time with their grandchildren also, losing opportunities, losing relationships, losing peace, and trying to correct a story they never wrote.

If your happiness requires someone else to lose their relationship with their children, eventually you have to ask what exactly are you celebrating.

I simply believe that truth should eventually have the same opportunity to exist as the lie did, because a temporary sense of victory doesn't make the underlying truth disappear.
..and children should never have to pay the emotional price for adults protecting a story.
