The Italian Connection

We have an exciting announcement! On Sunday, October 11, 2026, The Italian Connection will be hosting Fort Wayne's first ever Italian Street Festival!

This event will celebrate our faith, family, and Italian heritage. Hours are from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with our free kids corner open from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Wear your best leisure suit and enter to win a dinner party for 4! Singing and dancing all day, and a special Holy Family procession and blessing will take place at 5:00 PM.

Since this is our first year, we are asking for your help by providing an RSVP. This is not required but will help us estimate food amounts. As a thank you, 10 names will be pulled from the RSVP list to receive free food tickets!

25 years later, there is an entire generation that doesn't remember this day. For those of us who do remember what we saw and how how we felt on September 11, 2001, it is our responsibility to teach our children. We cannot whitewash what happened that day, or what happened to the soldiers in the months and years after, or the thousands of people who suffered and died from 9/11 illnesses. Just as we have an obligation to raise our children in faith and love, we have an obligation to teach our children the good and bad of history. On this solemn anniversary, we remember.

We had the privilege of taking our littles to Washington D.C. a few days ago to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary. The National Museum of American History has on display the Start Spangled Banner, the massive 30x42 foot flag that flew over Fort McHenry during the British bombardment in 1814. It survived, and seeing it still waving the morning after, Francis Scott Key penned the poem that became our national anthem. Being able to see such an iconic part of our history only solidified our patriotism and increased our gratitude for those who sacrificed and continue to sacrifice their lives for this great nation.
