By late September, the very first hints of autumn start popping up across Northern and Central Indiana, especially on species like Sassafras, Sumac, and early Maples.

Before the full canopy turns, we want to see what’s happening in your neck of the woods!

Did you know that planting too deep is the #1 cause of young tree failure?

Burying the root flare under too much soil effectively suffocates your new tree, leading to slow growth, weak roots, and early failure. Luckily, there’s an easy trick to make sure you get the depth right every single time.

The Shovel Test:

1. Place your tree in the hole.
2. Lay your shovel handle flat across the top of the hole.
3. Check the root flare (where the trunk widens at the base).
4. If the root flare sits below the handle: The hole is too deep! Lift the tree and add soil underneath before planting.

Our AEP Nature Explore Classroom is looking better than ever! 🌿✨

THANK YOU to the incredible crew from the Do It Best Foundation! For United Way’s Day of Caring, around 30 amazing volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help us clean up, spruce up, and prep our outdoor learning space.

Thanks to their hard work, our classroom is looking beautiful and ready to welcome you all for our Open House on September 17th!

This incredible team went above and beyond on United Way of Allen County's Day of Caring. Thank you to all the volunteers from Do It Best for returning our Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom to tip-top shape.

I'm always proud to be a part of the Do it Best and True Value team ... especially today!

We had about 30 people show up and volunteer as part of the United Way of Allen County Day of Caring ... We helped Trees Indiana with their Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.
