Here we go again. 💔

Today, Humane Fort Wayne took in an emergency placement of 13 dogs, including 2 newborn pups, being released from a commercial breeder in Ohio. Five more will arrive tomorrow.

Our staff drove hours to bring these precious souls to safety. While they were on the road, the rest of our team was busy preparing kennels and getting everything ready for their arrival.

It has been all hands on deck here today.

They arrived covered in filth, severely matted, and generally terrified. Our veterinary team immediately began processing and assessing each dog, while our staff and volunteers started the long process of bathing and grooming, but many will need to be fully shaved down.

Once again, our team is seeing firsthand the cruel reality of puppy mills and commercial breeding. These dogs deserved so much more.

Please, before purchasing a puppy, research breeders thoroughly. Ask questions. Visit the facility. Know where your puppy came from and how the parents are treated.
And whenever possible, PLEASE choose to adopt.

In the coming days and weeks, we'll be working diligently to get these sweeties healthy, comfortable, and ready for and ready for adoption.

But for now, we'll all breathe a little easier knowing they're safe, loved, and on the road to a better life. 🥹

Each package includes: a spay/neuter surgery, Rabies vaccine, microchip, pain medication, and mandatory ear tip!
