Agricultural Development for Armed Forces Pre-Deployment Training is a specialized workshop for U.S. Endorsed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S.
military deploying to under-governed regions where agriculture plays a major role in stability. Agricultural Development for Armed Forces Pre-Deployment Training (ADAPT) is a specialized workshop for U.S. military personnel that provides practical, hands-on training related to village-level agricultural and water resource assessments. Department of Defense, ADAPT instruction centers on appropriate mitigation and remediation projects that can be accomplished using local knowledge, skills, networks and resources (hand tools) within short time frames and minimal budgets. This experiential, quick impact training is intended for those units undertaking deployments to at-risk, fragile communities where food security plays a key role in stability. ADAPT students who have taken the course (more than 2,000) come from all U.S. Geographic Combatant Commands and have subsequently deployed to regions across the globe armed with fundamental skills in agricultural assessment and intervention.

ADAPT Director Bill Erysian has collaborated on a newly-published article for Military Review magazine that focuses on food security issues of the Baltic States, particularly in light of potential Russian aggression in the region. The article largely takes an agro-economic perspective and reveals some vulnerabilities that can impact the region's agricultural and foods sectors:
