Friendswood Library

We’re so happy to see Karen recognized for everything she’s done for the library. Very well deserved! ❤️

Congratulations to Karen Hart, Assistant Director of the Friendswood Library, for receiving the Five Star Spirit Award. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This award recognizes City employees that have performed above and beyond their normal job duties. Karen was nominated by a staff member due to her actions during a transitional period of time at the Library that was described as difficult. The nomination states, " ...we have been without a Director for the past year. Through it all we have remained a family and maintained excellent service to our community. We would not have survived without Karen's dedication and leadership. She has been our pilar of strength and our shoulder to cry on. Her unwavering dedication to us (her staff), to the library itself, and to the community we serve..." Thank you Karen!

Turns out $0 goes pretty far at the library!

Making progress! Here’s a look at the work underway for our new mobile shelving.

We will remain open with limited services Monday-Saturday from 10am-6pm through September 24, with hold pickup, drive-thru service, and a small browsing collection still available. We’ll then be closed September 25–26 for Gala setup and the Friendswood Library Gala.

Don’t forget, our Lending Machine at City Hall is available 24/7 if you’re looking for something to read while services are limited.

Our September schedule changes begin next week. The library will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. From September 8–24, we’ll be open Monday–Saturday from 10am–6pm with limited services while improvements are underway.

During this time, meeting rooms, study rooms, and computer services will be unavailable. Drive-thru service, hold pickup, and account services will still be available. Due dates will also be pushed back until normal hours resume.

We’ll be closed September 25–26 for Gala setup and the Friendswood Library Gala.
