We are kicking off our Leader in Me Family Newsletter! For the month of September, we have been learning about Habit 1: Be Proactive.
A yellow paper will be sent home with your child today, September 23rd, for your family to review together. The top half of the page is information on Habit 1, and the bottom half is a little activity to complete. You can scan the QR code, listen to the book, and then answer the questions on the side.
Once you have completed the activity, please send the newsletter back signed. The grade level with the highest participation will get a reward! The newsletter is due by September 29th. Remember to wear YELLOW that day to end our Habit 1 month!

It’s time for the 21-Day Healthy Snack Challenge! We want to encourage ALL students to join us as Hicks strives to leave no one behind in our quest for good health. The 21-Day Healthy Snack Challenge is a great opportunity for all of us to take responsibility for our own well-being in a body we fuel with our choices.
Sept. 22 - Sept. 29 — Register for The Challenge Online at kids-teaching-kids.com. Only parents can sign children up using parent email.
Sept. 29 - Oct. 19 — The 21-Day Challenge! The challenge isn’t complicated. The program encourages them to make healthier snack choices for the next 21 days. Every day, prepare and eat a healthy snack that contains a fruit or vegetable. Participants will gain access to fun, healthy recipes created by students from across North Texas.
Nov. 2 - Nov. 9 — The Post Survey will be emailed to the parents who signed up to answer a few questions to officially complete the challenge!
