Wendy Saldivar TC ’10 was named one of six educators to receive the Orange County Department of Education’s 2027 Orange County Teacher of the Year award for her leadership and commitment to student success. She teaches fifth grade in Loara Elementary’s Spanish Dual Language Immersion program. Before entering education, she worked as a 911 operator, then completed CSUF’s multiple subject credential program and now has 12 years of teaching experience. Claudia Garcia MS ’15 has recently been appointed Community Development Director for the City of El Cerrito. She brings extensive experience across planning, building, code enforcement, and economic development, most recently serving as assistant director in Vacaville and previously as a principal planner/environmental review officer in Berkeley. Garcia is active with the APA Northern Section, holds AICP certification, and regularly presents at statewide conferences. Kristen Maahs ’17 was elected to the Anaheim City Council in 2024, representing District 5, which includes Angel Stadium and the Honda Center. She is a fourth-generation Anaheim resident who focuses on public safety, effective homelessness solutions, economic growth, and continued transparency reforms. She has served on the Anaheim Cultural and Heritage Commission and the Anaheim Historical Society.
