Bookkeeping, Payroll and Tax.

πŸ“Œ Starting in 2026, there is a new tax benefit for charitable contributions. In the past, if you took the standard deduction, you generally couldn't deduct your charitable donations. But starting in 2026, you may be able to deduct up to one thousand dollars if you're single, or two thousand dollars if you're married filing jointly. Remember to keep records of your donations because you may need them when you file your tax return.

Profit does not always mean cash in the bank.

Your Profit & Loss report may show a profit while your bank balance remains low. Why?

βœ“ Customers have not paid their invoices yet
βœ“ You purchased equipment or other assets
βœ“ You made loan principal payments
βœ“ You withdrew money for personal use

Profit measures business performance, while cash flow shows how money moves in and out of your business. Review both regularly to understand your true financial position.

During this tax season, I noticed two common issues that caused delays:
1. Overtime Pay in 2025: If you received overtime pay, please bring your final 2025 paycheck. Sometimes overtime earnings are not clearly separated on the W-2. Your last paystub helps verify the total overtime premium paid so your tax prepaper can apply the correct tax treatment (including any eligible overtime premium deduction).

2. Marketplace Health Insurance (1095-A) If you had health insurance through the Marketplace at any time in 2025, you must have Form 1095-A. Without this form, your tax return may be rejected by the IRS because the Premium Tax Credit must be reconciled.

Bringing complete documents helps avoid delays and ensures your return is filed accurately.

Tax season is already stressful. Let’s make it smoother together!πŸ˜€
