Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School

We know this continues to be an incredibly difficult time for so many in our community. Many of our neighbors are still without power and working through the challenges left behind by this devastating storm.

On Wednesday, August 19, we will once again open the Lake Ridge Schools Conference Center, 3900 Calhoun Street, to the entire community. Please use the entrance near the football gates.

Thanks to the continued support of our community partners, we will be providing:

Breakfast: 9:00–11:30 a.m.
Lunch: 12:00–2:30 p.m.

Meals will be packaged to go, but you are more than welcome to stay, enjoy your meal, cool off, charge your devices, and take a break. Water and coffee will also be available.

This is open to everyone in our community—you do not need to be a Lake Ridge family to stop by.

We know we cannot take away everything our neighbors are going through, but we hope we can provide a little comfort, a meal, and a safe place to rest as our community continues to recover.

Please take care of yourselves and one another. Lake Ridge is here for you.

Dear Lake Ridge Families and Community,

As we continue to recover from the devastating storm that impacted our schools and community, two of our five district buildings remain without power. Unfortunately, we are not yet in a position to safely resume normal school operations.

Lake Ridge New Tech Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, August 19; Thursday, August 20; and Friday, August 21, 2026.

Our teams continue to work diligently to assess our buildings, restore essential services, and address the many areas necessary for a safe return to school. We want to ensure that when we welcome our students and staff back, we can safely provide transportation, meals, functioning facilities, and a safe learning environment.

We are incredibly grateful for our first responders, maintenance and janitorial teams, linemen, utility workers, and everyone who continues to work tirelessly to help our district and community recover. Their dedication and long hours are helping restore our schools and ensure our buildings are safe for our students and staff. We cannot thank them enough for all they continue to do.

We sincerely hope that our students, families, and staff are safe and doing well during this incredibly difficult time. We know the continued closures present challenges for our families, and we truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as our community continues to recover.

We will continue to provide updates as we learn more and make decisions regarding our return to school.

Today, we invite anyone in our community who needs a place to cool off, charge their devices, get some water, or simply take a break to join us at the Lake Ridge Schools Conference Center, 3900 Calhoun Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please use the entrance near the football gates.

We are also incredibly grateful to our friends and community partners at Chartwells, who are helping us provide 200 snack bags for those who stop by today. Snack bags will be available while supplies last.

We know we cannot take away all of the challenges our community is facing, but we hope we can provide a little comfort and support during this difficult time.

Lake Ridge Families: This is from the Lake Ridge Fire Protection District for those with well water:

Attention Lake Ridge Community,

The Lake Ridge Fire Protection District knows that many in our community have wells, and have lost access to water. If you are in need of water we will be at the fire station 2301 W 47th Ave MONDAY from 1pm - 3pm to allow you to fill up water jugs and containers.

We will be set up in the east parking lot with a hose. Please do not park in front or behind the station.

If the outage continues we will post daily times for water availability until power is restored.

IMPORTANT DISTRICT UPDATE: SCHOOLS CLOSED TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2026

Dear Lake Ridge Families, Staff, and Community,

Lake Ridge New Tech Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, as three of our buildings remain without power following the devastating storms that impacted our community.

As power and services are restored, we must carefully evaluate all aspects of our district operations before welcoming students back. This includes ensuring our buildings are safe and operational, transportation can safely get students to and from school, and we are able to provide meals and a safe learning environment for every student.

Our teams will continue working and assessing the status of our buildings so that we can develop a safe and responsible plan for our return.

We know these continued closures are difficult for our families, staff, and students, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding.

We are in this together. Lake Ridge is a strong community, and we know that we will come through this stronger than ever.

🚨Calumet Township Storm Relief Initiative

The Office of the Calumet Township Trustee has coordinated a response that addresses both immediate needs and the recovery ahead.

Beginning Sunday and continuing throughout the week, we will activate additional relief efforts for Calumet Township residents impacted by the storm as noted below.

Calumet Township offices have also been significantly impacted by this week’s storm. Our facilities have experienced extensive flooding, storm damage and power outages, which have affected our normal operations.

With that said our team remains at work. Services will be handled manually as necessary.

Residents seeking direct Township Assistance must complete an application. Assistance will be determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with eligibility requirements, Indiana law, and Calumet Township’s adopted standards.

We have established contact with the American Red Cross and Lake County Emergency Management and are continuing to connect with other partners to identify additional resources and support for our residents.

As additional support is made available information efforts will be shared through our official channels.

Important Update for Lake Ridge Families

Dear Lake Ridge Families,

Our teams continue to work diligently to recover from the significant damage caused by the recent storms and to ensure our buildings are safe and ready for our students and staff.

At this time, our buildings are not yet prepared to safely welcome students back, and we remain without electricity in several areas. We know that many of our families and neighbors throughout the community are facing these same challenges as recovery efforts continue.

For these reasons, Lake Ridge New Tech Schools will be closed on Monday, August 17, 2026. We will use this additional time to continue assessing our buildings, restoring essential services, and evaluating conditions throughout our community.

The safety of our students, staff, families, and community remains our number one priority. We will continue to assess conditions and provide updates regarding when it is safe for students to return.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we work together to recover. We look forward to welcoming our students back as soon as we can do so safely.
