Rooted Hope Co-Op
A parent-led homeschool co-op in Georgetown, SC.
We received the following invitation. If anyone is interested, contact Alisha Gass on Facebook. I won’t be joining but it sounds like a fun time.
Hi friends!
Alisha here, and I’m so excited to invite your kiddos to go back in time—40 years, to January 2, 1987!
We’re hosting an 80s Snow Ball Dance for homeschoolers in 4th-9th! (if older grade want to join that’s ok. NO young siblings. We want this to be a traditional middle school dance)
Think big hair, big dresses, and big 80s bangers 🎶 I’m so excited about this I can barely stand it!
We really wanted to create something special for our tweens, and I found the PERFECT location in Conway—a gymnasium in an old school! It has always been a dream of mine for my son to get to experience a real school dance in a gym, just like I did growing up.
This dance is open to ALL 4th-9th grade homeschoolers in Horry County! We hope it will be a fun opportunity for our kids to meet new people, reconnect with old friends they may not have seen in a while, dress up, dance, and just have a great night together. So please spread the word and invite your homeschool friends!
A little about the cost
Nothing is set in stone just yet, because the final ticket price will depend on how many kids attend. Here are some of the expenses we’re currently estimating:
• Horry County Adult Education Center gym rental — $1,000
• Event insurance — $50–$150
• DJ for 3 hours — $200
• Food & refreshments — still deciding! We may do punch and cookies, fruit and veggies, pizza, or keep it simple with drinks and snacks.
• Decorations — a lot! 😂 Because if we’re going back to 1987, we’re going ALL OUT!
Once we have a better idea of how many kids are interested, we’ll be able to divide the expenses and determine the ticket price.
Parents, we’ll need you too!
We will have chaperones, we’d love some parent to volunteer as chaperones! We’ll need help with checking kids in at the door, keeping the refreshment/table areas tidy, walking around to make sure everyone is having a safe and fun evening, and post clean up.
We’ll also need some parents willing to help us transform the gym into 1987! We’ll have about 2 hours to decorate before the dance and 1 hour afterward to break everything down. If you know of a DJ let me know and also we need two big balloon arches. Are there any moms out there that are willing to do this for us?!!
And in between? Three hours for these kids to dance! 🎶
We are SO excited to make this a special night for our homeschool tweens. If your child would be interested in attending—or if you’d like to volunteer—please let me know!
Save the date: January 2nd, 1987… well, sort of. 😉
Hey, y’all!
We are excited to begin our new semester in a couple weeks. We are currently full which is a huge blessing. Such growth was unexpected but certainly welcomed. If you tried to get in this time but couldn’t, let me know if you want to be on our wait list for next semester.
I promise we are going to do better at posting our “open” field trips so y’all can join us and get to know fellow homeschoolers!
You won’t see a lot of pics on this page as we do try and respect family privacy.
Hope to see ya soon! God bless!!

Famous folks…
Hello, Rooted Hope has an opening for the Spring semester. We are a Christian parent-led cooperative that prioritizes flexibility and community over traditional state guidelines and curriculum. Our relaxed approach focuses on fostering meaningful connections among like-minded families. Our primary objective is to create an environment where children can explore their interests and develop a passion for learning. Membership is free, although some classes may incur a nominal fee for supplies. To be eligible, children must be at least five years old; younger siblings may participate in our pre-K program. If you are interested in joining our community, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are eager to welcome new families and expand our network. We look forward to hearing from you soon!!

Y’all, this year in school we did a North American Birds unit study. How excited am I to have been shown this app for identifying bird sounds?!?! It’s FREE and if you love HEARING nature as much as us, you’ll love this app.

See y’all soon!!
OPEN FIELD TRIP ALERT
It’s been a while since we’ve had a laid back field trip so if that’s your thing, this is for you!
Monday March 4th at 10:00am we will be at Huntington Beach. If you have a State Parks Pass, you get free entry.
If you do not have a pass, it is $8 per adult and $4 per child ages 6-15. Children younger than 6 are free.
They have a playground, nature paths and of course the beach is right there. They also have the Atalaya Castle. If you have the park pass, it allows 4 people free entry. Children 5 and under are free. If you must pay, it is $2 per person.
Bring a lunch. We will hang out, play, chat, explore and just have some good laughs.
Hope to see y’all there!
Hello all! Rooted Hope is excited and gearing up for the spring semester. We are currently full but are expecting to take on some new families next year. If interested, please reach out to be added to the waitlist.
Good news! We will be opening up some of the field trips this semester to other homeschooling families. This would be a perfect time to meet our group and get to know each other. Please like and follow this page for the field trip updates.
Looking forward to another successful semester with our Rooted Hope family!
WOW!! We built it and y’all really showed up for it! We are in awe that so many of you have a desire to be part of Rooted Hope Co-Op. We knew we would have a limited amount of space this first semester and we certainly have more interested families than we can accept at this time.
We have now closed the interest application forms so we have time to review everyone and try to group together a wide range of ages for the co-op we envision.
Any families we are unable to accept this semester will be placed on a waitlist for next semester or this semester should someone drop out beforehand.
Please pray for us as we pray over these applications so we can successfully build Rooted Hope Co-Op.
