💙🎉 Welcome Ashley Marshall to the Eastern team! With over 18 years of experience teaching in both Head Start and preschool settings, Mrs. Marshall brings a passion and a love for helping learners grow and succeed.

When she’s not in the classroom, Mrs. Marshall enjoys spending time on her family’s farm in Illinois and cooking for family and friends. She is especially excited to join the Eastern community, where her two sons have already found a place to call home.

We're excited to welcome Brandi Ortiz to Eastern Elementary!

Ms. Ortiz enjoys traveling, going to the movies, and attending festivals with her best friend and daughter. She brings experience as a Scott County substitute teacher, leading district summer programming, and most recently served as an HSC para.

She loves getting to know students and watching their personalities shine throughout the school year. When asked why Ms. Ortiz chose Eastern, she shared, "I felt welcomed from the moment I walked into my interview, and I'm hoping to find my new work family."

We're excited to welcome Amanda Lucas to the Eastern Elementary family as our School Nurse!

Nurse Amanda brings a strong background in health care with degrees in Kinesiology and Nursing, along with nine years of experience as a school nurse. She is passionate about building relationships with students and families while promoting health, wellness, and a safe learning environment for everyone.

Mrs. Muntz is beginning her 20th year in education and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for helping young learners grow. She is excited to meet Eastern's students and families while building meaningful relationships throughout the school community.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Muntz loves spending time with her family, visiting state parks, playing games, exploring new places, and making memories with her daughters through photography. We're excited to have her join our 1st-grade team and can't wait to see the positive impact she'll make. Welcome to Eastern! 🎉💛

🐻 Welcome to Eastern, Taylor Drake!

With five years of fourth-grade teaching experience, Mrs. Drake has a passion for helping students laugh, learn, and grow together every day. Outside of the classroom, she loves baking and trying new recipes, bringing the same creativity and joy to her hobbies that she does to teaching.

Mrs. Drake shared that she knew Eastern was the right place from the moment she stepped onto campus for her interview, immediately feeling the strong sense of community. She knew this was a place where she would be encouraged to become the best version of herself. We are so excited to have you at Eastern! 💙💛

It's Back to School Time! Here's some important dates for Eastern Families:

August 4th: New Families to Eastern will receive an invitation to connect to our school on Class Dojo. We use dojo to send school announcements, classroom updates, and communicate with teachers. This invitation will NOT be connected to a class, but to the school only.

August 5th: Kindergarten Orientation and Brigance Testing. Kindergarten families have received an invitation to sign up for a one hour time slot to attend a parent workshop, tour the school, and learn more about Eastern while their new kindergartener will spend time in a kindergarten classroom and complete Brigance Testing. If you have questions or did not receive this information, contact Melissa Johnson at [email protected].

August 7th: The primary parent/guardian listed in infinite campus will receive an email from your child's teacher sometime before 3:00 that day. This email will introduce the teacher, have some important school announcements, and have a link to all forms that need to be completed prior to the first day of school.

August 10th: Open House from 4-7 p.m. We suggest that families with last names beginning with A-L attend from 4:00-5:30 and families with last names beginning with M-Z attend from 5:30-7:00. This will assist with crowd control and parking due to our large enrollment. These are suggested times, so if you need to attend a different time, that is okay.

PARENTS OF RETURNING STUDENTS:
Get a jump start on the start of the new school year. Pay for your classroom fees online and skip the line at Open House on Monday, August 10th with Last Names starting A-L attending from 4pm to 5:30pm and M-Z attending from 5:30pm to 7pm.

We're excited to welcome Mariah Cook to our 1st grade team! With experience teaching Pre-K, 1st, and 4th grade—and a background as a special education aide, school secretary, and dance studio owner—she brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our school.

When she's not in the classroom, you'll find Mrs.Cook spending time with family, reading, traveling, baking, or capturing memories through photography.

From her very first interaction, she felt at home at Eastern- and we're so glad she's here! 💙💛

When she’s not in the classroom, Ms. Childers loves exploring new places- her latest adventure took her to Maryland, and Maine is next on her travel list! She is excited to join our faculty because of our close-knit, supportive school community. We couldn’t be happier to have her as part of the Cub family 💙💛
