Happy First Day of Fall!

It may not “feel” like fall - but we’re getting in the spirit of the season with a few of our favorite autumn picks! These wines offer a perfect transition between those hot weather sips and your favorite cooler weather wines - just chill a bit and pour into your favorite glass.

We’re welcoming Lynton Kaiser from South Africa’s Boekenhoutskloof Winery (pronounced “book-howed-skloof”) into the shop for a fantastic evening of wines from South Africa’s Western Cape.

The Boekenhoutskloof estate has been racking up international acclaim for it’s contribution to modern South African wine making for the last 30 years, and Lynton has spent most of his career pounding the pavement singing its praises. He’s making the 18-hour (!) flight to Kentucky to present some of his winery’s most popular bottles.

The evening includes a guided tasting of 5 wines, plus charcuterie and bottled water. We will have extra bottles on hand for you to take home at a 10% discount.

Welcome to The Wine Project!

Now that we are settled in our new location, we thought it was time to re-introduce the people who make The Wine Project so special. Swipe to meet our team (and 👀 what they have in their glass!).

John is a lifelong wine traveler who had a dream of sharing with others the sort of wines that can only be found down the dustiest of wine country back roads. His passion launched The Wine Project in 2020. You can find John in the shop just about every hour it’s open.

Alicia’s appreciation of wine started when her and John started dating. By the time The Wine Project opened, she knew her way around most wines and rarely finds one she can’t appreciate and enjoy. Alicia can be found in the shop on most weekends and for events.

Cass is the self-appointed shop door watcher and king of the clean up crew. He makes special appearances and provides support. You can find Cass wherever Alicia happens to be 😉

Alexis is a longtime friend of the shop and spends most of her time dreaming up ways to say “sip happens”. If there’s a wine in the shop she hasn’t tasted, it’s because the rest of the team has been hiding it from her. Alexis can be found in the shop some evenings and Saturdays and at events.

Travis calls himself a bona fide Cork Dork. He is a true lover of all things wine and loves to help people find new flavors to enjoy. He is also a wine educator who likes to teach by making all the facets of wine easy and accessible to understand. Travis can be found in the shop for his monthly wine tasting classes.

New pours this week! Our WineStations are the perfect way to explore the world of wine! Taste something new, sip on an old favorite, or sample that bottle you’ve always been curious about.

We’ll be celebrating with a free tasting of some special wines that we discovered years ago when we first started planning the shop, and of course some light bites for you to nibble on while you explore the shop.

September marks the first full month in our brand new location on Main Street, and we're not wasting a minute breaking the new space in!

We have a full month of events lined up, and hope to see you at one or all of them.

Our wine class with Travis is next Monday the 14th, and will be a reboot of last year's popular Pinot Noir Around the World class. Join us for a fresh new lineup of Pinots just in time for fall!

Our ribbon cutting and grand re-opening of the new shop will be on Wednesday the 16th at 4pm. Come celebrate with us! We'll have light bites and some of our favorite wines open for you to taste while you explore our new digs.

And on Wednesday the 30th, we welcome Lynton Kaiser from South Africa's Boekenhoutskloof Winery (pronounced "bookn-howed-skloof"). Lynton has spent his career pounding the pavement singing the praises of South African wine, and he'll be making the 18-hour flight to Kentucky to present some of his winery's best bottles.

You asked for it, so we’re rebooting our popular Around the World classes with a fresh lineup of wines from all across the globe!

Travis will be back in the shop for our fall Pinot Noir Around the World class! And as usual when Travis is in the house, it’s going to be a BLAST!

❓What: Pinot Noir Around the World with Travis Huber
💲How Much: $40 per person

Pinot Noir. Why, exactly, is this finicky little grape so captivating? Come find out! For this class we will taste our way through several expressions of Pinot Noir from different areas from around the world including: California, Oregon, France, Germany and Italy.

We’ll discuss vineyard and production techniques, that mysterious concept of “terroir,” and why their flavors are so different, even though they are made from the same grape.

Tickets are $40/person which includes a guided tasting of 5 wines. Pinot-friendly munchies and bottled water included. Advanced reservations are required!

Limited seats available. As always, we’ll have additional bottles from the tasting for sale that evening at 10% off the normal retail price.

Harvest is officially underway in France 🍁, and we’re celebrating with a fantastic lineup of wines handpicked by your “we survived a week of John’s driving in France” team of Bordeaux-lovers at The Wine Project! 🍷

*This is a pre-sale event, so you'll be the first to taste and secure your favorite bottles before they land in October!*

🍷 What: Our first ever Bordeaux Happy Hour!
💲 Cost: $10 (waived with 3-bottle order)

🇫🇷 Special Guest: Our friend Coralie Laurence, the French Ambassador for Monsieur Touton (one of our favorite Bordeaux importers) will be on hand to help us pour, tell stories about the producers and, talk about what makes each wine unique.

You’ll have the opportunity to taste a fantastic lineup of 12 wines - a mix of whites, reds, and Sauternes - all from France’s famed Bordeaux region. Plus a bonus Champagne just for fun! A few of these wines made an appearance in the shop last year and they sold out very quickly.

Love the wines? Most bottles will retail in the $15-25 range, and your $10 tasting fee will be waived with any 3-bottle order! This is a pre-sale event, and we expect the wines to arrive from France in mid-October for you to pick up.

If you’ve shopped with us for a while, you know how much we love Bordeaux around here! A year ago we had the opportunity to take a small group of customers to visit Bordeaux - and this is one of those events that trip made possible. We really hope you’ll join us! Thanks to Coralie, and our friend Robert at River City Distributing for helping us put this together on short notice!

Savor the last weeks of summer with a sparkling cocktail at a special price! Come in and get some Caffo Limoncino Limoncello ($21) with Indigenous Prosecco($18) for a special price of $35, now through Labor Day.
